Flippin 'eck, the roads would be empty. If you cannot drive safely and follow the highway code then you shouldn't drive, and that applies to all ages.

What the correct frequency is I’m not sure but that would seem like a sensible idea, similar to what others posted earlier. I’m also of the opinion that people who are done for driving without due care and attention with a points tariff of 6 or more should also have a short driving competency test regardless of age.I think the DVSA should bring in a yearly 20 to 30 minute driving assessment when a driver reaches 75. Not a full test but a driving examiner sat there to decide if the driver is still competent to drive.
That’s true. There must have been some sort of amnesty when compulsory testing was brought in.…the fella on the phone said "yeah, there's a lot of people of his generation who never bothered taking a test."
Having looked,GM ring and ride is for people who have difficulty accessing public transport or are disabled.Good post mate.
Does your mum qualify for Ring And Ride service in Manchester and surrounding areas? My mum did but never used it when she could drive.
There was a post a few pages back about how they do it in Spain for the elderly every few years - computer simulation and response measurement, fail that=no license. What the correct frequency is I’m not sure but that would seem like a sensible idea, similar to what others posted earlier. The problem is there are insufficient qualified instructors to do it.
The driving's OK in Spain, it's the parking that needs addressing. The dont park as such, it's called abandoning. They also practice the age old art of ' touch parking.....'There was a post a few pages back about how they do it in Spain for the elderly every few years - computer simulation and response measurement, fail that=no license.
Seems sensible, but not for anyone who never bothered with a license…
