Electric cars

Then attack the government and I'll be liking your posts! But isn't what you are doing the same as attacking petrol cars if there were insufficient petrol stations where you live?

well it could be if there were not 3 petrol stations within 5 minutes of where I live.

I genuinely don't get peoples hostility tonight. Yes some people have a good experience with EV's but my point is cost to buy - public charge point availability and time to charge are detrimental to their existence. Had we never had internal combustion engines it could make sense but they have been with us for so long I really do not see how they are the answer at this time in that format.

No hostility mate. Enjoy your evening. We can just agree to disagree on EVs.

In certain locations. I am sure they work for you. My brother-in-law in Heywood has spent 3 months poring over the decision to change and he is proper nerdy ( and fucking tight as a gnats arse ) - daft fucker has spent about £1500 keeping his petrol car going in that time coz its dying

Not the answer for all of course but a good option for many.

It means I "recharge" with diesel once a fortnight or perhaps more - I gain much more of my precious time - ie life - not charging my car with electricity. The car is already 9 years old - I'd probably be on my second set of batteries by now and they ain't cheap.

That is such a misleading statement. How many people can charge overnight? There are so many barriers to being able to do that. On C4News this week charging an EV was nearly as costly as filling a petrol car at current prices. If you are lucky enough to have the infrastructure at home to have a charge point installed its still £3.5K to put one in. I don't need a diesel pump and all the associated paraphernalia at home - I have 3 filling stations within 5 minutes of where I live.

EV's and the current infrastructure are just not the answer.
you can charge from a normal plug socket. I charge mine overnight when its cheap rate..10 hrs will charge it 50 mile..since normally only do 15 a day in the week its more than enough..even if we do 200 mile at the weekend the car will be charged fully over next 4 days..when I was in mcr I charged from my mums garage socket and before driving back here, nipped to the Trafford centre superchargers. Chargers are everywhere now

Just picked my daughter up from work - the car park I referenced with the 10 chargers none of which are connected to the grid? Looks like people have got fed up and when I dropped her off 5 or 6 of the bays had been taken by people with fossil fuel driven cars - probably pissed off that so many bays were taken up and not being used in a town centre carpark. A couple were still there when I got back at 5.30 and they had been ticketed. There are no parking restriction signs up as yet and as I say the charge points are dead. Surely they can't make those tickets stick?

If floor markings are in place they will probably stick.

nah - there are just the usual white lined bays - as I say there is nothing - no signs to show who eventually will be supplying the charge just the grey boxes in situ and poles next to them where presumably the t&c's will be displayed.
I don't see how they can make the fines stick tbh
