Electric cars

well the you are lucky - I know two people who live in flats in York and they don't have that - but thats just pathetic points scoring - go walk around many a city centre block built in the last 10 years - the provision for parking never mind charging is pathetic - its assumed you live in a city centre so you don't need a car it seems.

I am not saying alternative fuels are not the answer but it needs a mix - EV's are good for short journeys and places where the current infrastructure supports them - maybe hydrogen for others but there will have to be a place for internal combustion engines too for a long time if poorer people are to be able to move around. Or maybe we all need 3 or 4 vehicles to suit various needs? We also need better public transport provision but fuck me thats in a mess here too.

Well councils need to be ensuring that every new housing project has charging capacity. That is law in London so not sure why it can't be or isn't in other major cities. Do new developments in Manchester not having charging points in the car parks?

I agree with that final paragraph.

One thing though, Hydrogen at present is super expensive and if you think the infrastructure for EVs is bad then I think there's literally only one or two places you can fill up on Hydrogen! However, I'm with you in it being an even better energy source if it can be harnessed and made cost efficient.

I don't think @Alan Harper's Tash was saying his brother's car didn't work mate. Again you are being sensationalist and spinning falsehoods. I understood he was saying that he sold his car and it had certain problems and someone overpaid (in his opinion) given these unidentified problems. That literally can happen with a petrol, diesel or EV car.
Pretty much this. It’s not a new concept for a second hand car when bought to have problems masked by the seller.

As this was on a hybrid, with limited knowledge of longer term issues, sellers could get away with more.

London - the place where buses were never de-regulated. Mate we live in the same but different countries. Look at the disastrous Truss moves this week. They want to "remove planning red tape" - its about building on green belt and in your and my back yard with our right to oppose removed not about what should be there like all new houses having solar panels and rain water capture so we don't flush our shit away with water that is of drinking quality, Councils decide on bins and street lighting mate they have had power stripped away. There are no requirements to provide charging from the Govt who wants to see us all drive EV's - smoke and mirrors and people are drawn in to this

You are because he didn't say the battery didn't work. And I think you know you are.
He was told his battery had a limited lifespan left by his mechanic.

The mechanic may have been wrong, of course, but my brother didn’t advertise the fact the battery was on its last legs.

Then attack the government and I'll be liking your posts! But isn't what you are doing the same as attacking petrol cars if there were insufficient petrol stations where you live?
