well the you are lucky - I know two people who live in flats in York and they don't have that - but thats just pathetic points scoring - go walk around many a city centre block built in the last 10 years - the provision for parking never mind charging is pathetic - its assumed you live in a city centre so you don't need a car it seems.
I am not saying alternative fuels are not the answer but it needs a mix - EV's are good for short journeys and places where the current infrastructure supports them - maybe hydrogen for others but there will have to be a place for internal combustion engines too for a long time if poorer people are to be able to move around. Or maybe we all need 3 or 4 vehicles to suit various needs? We also need better public transport provision but fuck me thats in a mess here too.
Well councils need to be ensuring that every new housing project has charging capacity. That is law in London so not sure why it can't be or isn't in other major cities. Do new developments in Manchester not having charging points in the car parks?
I agree with that final paragraph.
One thing though, Hydrogen at present is super expensive and if you think the infrastructure for EVs is bad then I think there's literally only one or two places you can fill up on Hydrogen! However, I'm with you in it being an even better energy source if it can be harnessed and made cost efficient.
