Electric cars

I agree with your last statement. Why are people buying second hand EVs? You'd have to ask them but I don't anticipate having problems selling my car but I guess time will tell. Maybe in a few years I'll come on here and say it was a huge mistake but I've had my EV for nearly 2 years and I would honestly never go back to petrol now.

Like I said numerous times, EVs aren't for everyone but for some people they are great. Also, personally I'd love to be able to walk around a city centre without the air pollution of petrol cars!
My brother sold his Prius a few years back and it had all sorts of crap wrong with it and he was told its battery was on its last legs.

Whoever bought that car paid well over the odds.

I think that that will be quite commonplace in 5-10 years time.

That's subjective though isn't it.

I agree though EVs will depreciate in value the older they are and that might be further exasperated in the future.

Well just looking at your last few posts I've found two to three mate:

cheapest one was £46k and had a 125 mile range - NOT TRUE
a charge point installed its still £3.5K to put one in - NOT TRUE
That is such a misleading statement. How many people can charge overnight? - I DON'T HAVE FACTS ON THIS ONE BUT EVERYONE I KNOW WHO OWNS AN EV CHARGES AT HOME OR IN THE STREET OVERNIGHT

lets just deal with them shall I?

I said the cheapest featured on the programme not the cheapest overall
as I said in my answer that was what my neighbour was quoted
if you live in shared or high rise housing you can't - how many people do you know who are charging off their drive and in the street? Would be interested to know.

I live in a high rise and have a charging point in the car park! Haha.

I know probably 3-4 people at work who have EVs and then maybe 2-3 friends (baring in mind most of my friends don't even have cars!) and as far as I know they all charge their cars overnight.

is it? I mean if someone bought a petrol car and then found its engine was fucked and it needed an new one would they say thats subjective or just be angry they had been sold a pup?

Couldn't agree more mate. I see a long traffic jam and I just picture all the pollutants surrounding that area, it's horrible what were doing, 2 billion cars, trucks, buses etc polluting every day. I think in the future they will look back and think we were insane.

Mate of mine here has solar panels on his roof, charges his car overnight basically for free. Zero fuels cost for his car.

I don't think @Alan Harper's Tash was saying his brother's car didn't work mate. Again you are being sensationalist and spinning falsehoods. I understood he was saying that he sold his car and it had certain problems and someone overpaid (in his opinion) given these unidentified problems. That literally can happen with a petrol, diesel or EV car.

well the you are lucky - I know two people who live in flats in York and they don't have that - but thats just pathetic points scoring - go walk around many a city centre block built in the last 10 years - the provision for parking never mind charging is pathetic - its assumed you live in a city centre so you don't need a car it seems.

I am not saying alternative fuels are not the answer but it needs a mix - EV's are good for short journeys and places where the current infrastructure supports them - maybe hydrogen for others but there will have to be a place for internal combustion engines too for a long time if poorer people are to be able to move around. Or maybe we all need 3 or 4 vehicles to suit various needs? We also need better public transport provision but fuck me thats in a mess here too.

Not being sensationalist just illustrating the petrol/diesel equivalent

Hybrid is a totally different kettle of fish

and will also be banned from sale from 2030 - madness - there should be a gradual feed in from petrol/diesel through hybrid to whatever the eventual answer is - without proper infrastructure reforms its not viable. How are deliveries going to get into town/city centres?
