Mangala looks like micah richards a few years back lots of pace and strength but poor positionally and eractic in possession and occasionally chips in with the odd header id look elswhere but sounds like deal could be nearly done.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Just red somewhere online that Moyes is not impressed at all with him. I laughed and closed the page.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

To be fair, Moyes does have a decent eye for talent. You don't make Everton competitive on a shoestring budget without a good eye. That said, whether Moyes is impressed or not doesn't matter.

Mangala has much better awareness and ability on the ball and, where as Micah often looks awkward, his physicality is far more fluid and elegant.
Being made Captain also speaks volume about his character.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Respect your opinion FI but I thought that the mental side is Mangala's main weakness at the moment.
I've seen him take up some awful positions and his spatial awareness has been lacking in some of the few games I've seen him in.
Having said that, with coaching and mentoring I believe he would be a great CB for us if he has the capacity to adapt.

Like I say,i'm not sure he would be wearing the armband if he was mentally weak....as for his positioning,i might be being kind or even giving him more credit than he deserves, however,i get the impression he has little faith in his defensive partners and often tries too hard to be everywhere.

I may be miles off with such an assessment but I think his raw potential makes him worth the risk.

The spatial awareness thing really really worries me.

The system MP plays requires the back 4 to be incredibly aware of space and the offside line.
