Elon Musk buys and ruins Twitter

Can’t decide if he thought he’d actually win the poll, or if he’s had enough and wants to appoint a new CEO anyway. Either way, I’ll take any kind of public humiliation for him.

I’ve voted Yes but also feel he has something up his sleeve- he could appoint Trump to take over! Or something ridiculous

He's trying to micro manage Twitter and pander to these weird alt right accounts that slob him off. All going tits up, Jack Dorsey wondering wtf has happened.
Didn't Jack Dorsey support his bid to run Twitter? Maybe he fell for the hype like so many others.

Or perhaps like so many tech bros, he thinks his judgement is never in need of oversight.

Interesting! This guy is has been tagged as Head of French Cybercrime

I've always wondered why that's not already the case. When some child porn ends up on Pornhub, for example, I don't see how the entire company isn't shut down instantly and the owners arrested for distributing it. I don't see why they're able to hide behind the fact that 'it wasn't us, it was our users' any more than a newspaper can claim that it wasn't them it was one of their journalists.

They claim to be the printing press and each account is the newspaper. Its a thin argument but has held in court for a long time.

But there is a point t where the actions of a platform would undermine the argument. Deleting content for editorial reasons is one and is pointed out above. The rules have to be applied evenly or the platform is shaping the content. Musk is clearly not applying the rules evenly.

It's held but it's never been a legitimate argument because the printing press doesn't make it's money via advertising revenues and doesn't affect the distribution of what is printed on it's press in order to max that revenue. The tech companies have run rings round the legislators since the inception of these platforms. Some decent lawmakers and a few high profile incarcerations won't entirely fix the issues but it'll be a good start.

I would love to see the EU go after Musk. The stench of boiling fascist piss would be off the scale.

how much expertise do you think the likes of BMW has in the software market? Next to zero, they know absolutely jack shite.

Sorry, you couldn't be more wrong here.

BMW and all the major car manufacturers have had massive software teams for 20+ years. They dwarf Tesla. You know that the entire VW diesel emissions scandal was all run by software detecting when the cars were being tested? Software runs everything in your car and has done since before Tesla existed.

Tesla has some advantages on energy efficiency, and getting range out of batteries, but everyone else has all but caught up.

I am absolutely certain he could simply change the vote counter if he wanted to win it.

More likely he's burned himself out.

Getting booed off the stage at the Dave Chappelle show seems to have been a bit of a turning point, I think he tweeted afterwards he was used to getting negative reception online but not in person before.

Since then his decisions have not even made sense according to the rules he's created for Twitter 2.0 over the last month.

I hope this is the case

he keeps repeating 'be careful what you wish for' ... unless he has someone else lined up to takeover ?
