Email from our CEO

That's why they say
'Never apologise, never explain'
I could have drafted a better letter despite knowing very little about the whole matter.

I just had one from some cu+t called Woowar saying if i twas not for us he would still be in a job and the scum would be buying Harland Sancho Messi ( whoever he is) and some twunt Pogba, on a new 50 year contract.

Shame.

I've just read mine and it's absolutely fine by me.

He pretty much highlights what I suspected which is the decision to go forward was to give the club a voice in order to continue to develop and grow.

It certainly came across with far more sincerity than the American's attempt, which really did sound like lip service.

"As always, when we make choices and decisions, we do so with the best interests of the Club in mind and we believed that being part of such an initiative could give us a voice that might be imperative to our future ability to succeed and grow."

Translation: we wanted to, but you rumbled us.

Look we have an extremely tough couple of weeks ahead and we need to put this issue behind us. Or atleast bench it for now

We need to stand behind our players, coach and team so that we can win the Premier League, League Cup and maybe the Champions League. Lets move on and concentrate on whats more important now.

This is not a matter closed, not for me.
I want to be sure that this does not happen again, and since I have lost confidence in the owners and the board, I hope that the government will impose 50+1 in the Premier League even if this means that the club will lose economic muscle
Not a chance 50+1

This was a good line to include if they truly believe it:
I want to personally assure you that the Owners, Chairman, Board and staff are completely committed to ensuring that the club continues to contribute meaningfully to the ongoing well-being of both the English and European football pyramids and their associated competitions.

For comparison Joel Glazer's apology to United fans had this line:
'We continue to believe that European football needs to become more sustainable throughout the pyramid for the long-term. However, we fully accept that the Super League was not the right way to go about it.'

At least we don't sound like we're going to do it again!

I do dislike it when comms/press officers liberally sprinkle' the word 'that'. It's superfluous.

Also, "I want to personally assure you". They are suggesting he 'wants' to personally assure us. Surely, it should be "I personally assure you... ".

Sorry, I find it annoying. :)
