The thing is, Gunnar Nielsen has been signed by the club and probably earns £10,000 a week from it.

What exactly does this boy need to do to get a game then? We have no other keeper, and we would rather go out and find a replacement than give him a shot.

That'll do wonders for the guys confidence. Support the lad, and he'll make us proud, just as Kasper did way back when.

Agreed, why the fuck would you keep 23 old reserve player if you are not gonna play them when there are no other choices. Not like he is a future potential superstar or anything. He would probably do as well as any third rate goalkeeper we could loan, who's to say they don't fuck up either.

This is too important to "give people a shot" or worry about a player's confidence.

We have to do everything we can to get the best keeper we can between the sticks for the last three games.

The stakes are way too high to put our faith in Lady Luck.

ok first of all hes prob on about3grand a week at most,secondly i cant believe ppl want a guy who has played ten minutes in the premier over a guy who kept craig gordon out of the sunderland side for a considerable time.and we slag the rags wen they go mental over a young prodigy (diouf,macheda).this guy had barely neting to do and if rvp free kick was a little bit lower gunnar would have been nowhere near it!!!ask any other supporter whod they rather have in their goals,fulop who has played over 30 games in the league or gunnar nielse played 10 minutes and is the faroe islands keeper.... im pretty sure theyd laf at the suggestion of gunnar.....

The only goalkeeper I'd like us to bring in, is Joe Hart, but his loan contract doesn't allow for a recall. Sticking with Nielsen would have been my first option, however, once Mancini has been reported to be looking for an 'emergency replacement' I think playing the youngster has become an even bigger risk.

As an inexperienced goalkeeper, you want to hear your manager say he has faith in your ability, not that you getting a game is considered a crisis situation!

Who's to say whether his contract is not going ot be renewed, whether he was bought on potential, or what.

The facts are he is a hugely inexperienced keeper who could easily cost us our place in the Champions League with one or two little errors.

Plus we need somebody anyway as we have no back up for Gunnar.

I think the reasoning behing looking for an emergency loan could also be down to the fact that we are down to the thrid string keeper, with the fourth one also being injured. This means that if anything further happened to Gunnar then we would have to stick the academy keeper in net, and that is not a situation you want to be faced with.

Any emergency signing may not actually start ahead of Gunnar, but its best to have a back up rather than some kid who hasn't even featured in the stiffs
