That would be fair enough...

Thats the point, right now we havnt got a keeper for the bench, we obviously need 1, but Gunnar as our keeper for me, if he cocks up get behind him we just have to score more goals than the opposition in 3 games......easy
We have David González Giraldo! He's 27 and has 1 cap for Columbia! He can't be any good like, but thought i'd mention him!

The thing is, Gunnar Nielsen has been signed by the club and probably earns £10,000 a week from it.

What exactly does this boy need to do to get a game then? We have no other keeper, and we would rather go out and find a replacement than give him a shot.

That'll do wonders for the guys confidence. Support the lad, and he'll make us proud, just as Kasper did way back when.

Forward With Gunnar!

I agree with this, he was obviously good enough to be next in line and ready to be called upon incase of an injury to Shay so why would he not be good enough to be our number 1 for the rest of the season.

We hardly saw alot of him in his 17 minute appearance but what i saw was he was calm, confident, his distribution was better than Shay's and allthough he wasn't tested with shots i doubt he would be a top club's number 2 if he couldn't save a few shots.

Forward With Gunnar!

If he's a significantly better keeper then get him in, without a doubt.

It isn't that complicated to shout "Keepers Ball" when you're coming out.

That's the thing, we don't know if whatever signing we can pick out of the air WILL be a better keeper than Gunnar. What happens if we bring in Fulop and he fucks it all up for us?

Somebody made a great point about Boyata coming in, which said that the rest of the team raised their game to help the lad. There's no reason why this can't happen with Gunnar, who seems to be well liked.

Keepers Ball may not be hard to shout, but as you well know, playing in net isn't as simple as that.

Putting Boyata in was an error in my opinion.

I'm not talking about this Fulop, I don't know anything about him or our foreign keeper.

I'm just saying we should do whatever it takes to get the best, most experienced goalkeeper we can get our hands on for these games.

This is too important to "give people a shot" or worry about a player's confidence.

We have to do everything we can to get the best keeper we can between the sticks for the last three games.

The stakes are way too high to put our faith in Lady Luck.

I fully agree with this. If the management would prefer someone with more big game experience than Gunnar, then I'd trust them. They see him in training every day and will have watched him in the reserves. Loads of gung ho opinions on here to the effect that he should be given a go - but probably from people who have never seen him play bar the last 20-odd minutes on Saturday.

Personally, I'm not so cavalier in my attitude. The less left to chance the better, and that includes not risking it with a goalkeeper whose sum total of senior experience in the English game is five Conference matches.

By all means get Gunnar out on loan to gain experience at a decent level next season, and then - if he shows up well - throw him in the next time he's needed. But now? No, the prize of fourth place is too valuable to the club to take what Mancini quite understandably seems to see as a big risk.

Injured
Is he!? The MEN said he was in the travelling squad to Arsenal, in case either keeper got injured in the warm up or something. Did they just make that up?

Re: Emergency keeper loan [Merged]

I just hope we can get something sorted as soon as possible. Either a new guy or in or definitely sticking with Gunnar, whoever is going to be in net against Villa needs time in training.

Re: Emergency keeper loan [Merged]

Very obviously Gonzalez has "developed" a "mysterious" groin injury. So unlucky. Who would have thought that would have happened following the Given injury and the need for us to seek dispensation. ;-)

You could well have it the nail on the head there! The MEN definately claimed that he travelled to the Emirates. Fair play to the club if they are faking a Gonzalez injury to make our crisis seem even worse! It's about time we started using all the tricks of the trade to gain an advantage!
