Empty seats in north stand/family stand

This is my first posting. I got loads of stick yesterday by my son who is a rag about the large number of empty seats in north stand. It reflects poorly on City support. I am from N Ireland and all my friends are either Liverpool or Utd supporters and all they ever talk about is the empty seats at City.They never believe we ever sell-out the ground. I was at the Bayern game and there were empty seats in North stand. Any reason?

plenty of unused seats at the swamp these days ask your mates why they now go on open sale

30,000 empty seats at the palace game recently. ask your rag & dipper mates why that was.

Happens at every game. Oh, and from where I'm sitting, they certainly don't come in late and then leave early again. There was a block of about 15-20 empty seats all game against Arsenal. There must be at 100 empty seats in there for the majority of games.

Only some of the North Stand lower is family, some is not. It is strange. Although yesterday there was a great atmosphere in the North Stand i thought.

This is also my first post - I sit in 2nd tier of the the East Stand and the Family stand is just an embarrassment - I have no problem with young kids coming to the game and encouraging families attending. But it strikes me loads of them are not that interested, coming late, leaving early, constantly in and out to the shops/food outlets and quite often not turning up at all.

City need to get more savvy about their PR - if we want to grow our name nationally and internationally to increase the revenue. Most TV action is centred on the two goalmouths so at the moment what most people see is either a stand with zero-atmosphere and loads of empty seats (particularly in the last 15 minutes) or the away fans behind the other goal.

To me the family stand is one of the main reasons the atmoshere is so poor at the ground - I really think they should be relocated up to the 3rd tier where they can come & go as they please without spoiling the atmosphere for everyone else.

On another point, as we are moving to selling out many of our games does the club have a simple system to allow season ticket holders to sell on their tickets when they can't attend? I know Arsenal have a good scheme. We need to address the empty seats issue - it is an embarrassment and it needs to be sorted out.

I sit in East Stand lower - the guy next to me has a season ticket and has only attended about half the home games - strange - he must be loaded

Agree about North stand @ £95 - parents opt not to bring kids if the weather is crap. My lad sits with me (and pays a higher price for the privelage for sitting in East Stand Lowe) and never misses at home or most aways.

Or:

- He has got a new job that includes weekend work;
- A relative needs caring for which takes up a lot of time;
-He lives abroad and can only make games that fit around the scheduled flights.
etc.

People shouldn't jump to conclusions when a ST holder cannot make every game.

Baffles me, every home game this season has been a sell out yet when you are at the ground there appears to be droves of empty seats in the north stand only. Is there any particular reason ? People that aren't city fans must think out support is pathetic when watching motd as you can see them all empty.
Unfortunately, this shows that season tickets, especially for kids, are too cheap. Game was sold out and a lot of people couldn't get tickets but plenty of season ticket holders, for what ever reason, didn't go.

also, making the entire North stand a family stand was one of the worst ideas MCFC have ever come up with

the demand for such a huge area was never and never will be there

also the way it was handled and the fact it upset thousands of season ticket holders was also a disgrace

Personally I think its a great idea to have a dedicated stand for families, unfortunately some people are taking the piss and soon as they come in they high-tail it to the South stand ( unofficial singing standing section ) making it look like the Family stand is only 3/4s full at times. Perhaps theres a solution to this, at a suitable point along the concourse put removable barriers manned by a steward to check on fans trying to gain access into the wrong areas.

think the north stand is getting (very slowly) better now people realise there are like minded fans in there. the number of ex 'boys' in there always makes me smile

I think the family stand is great. Its affordable and there is flexibility to bring your kid or not. Its great for myself as I don't really want my little ones having to hear some of the foul language that you can elsewhere. I'm not against swearing, hell I swear with the best of them but not infront of my kids or other peoples kids.

City could be more relaxed about the limit they put on upgradinging the child tickets at weekends.

If you don't come to 80% or more of league games with a season ticket, you lose your season ticket for the next season.

This is the way it should be.

Here Here

PS Are we talking Saturday 3 O Clocks or all games or can non local fans opt out etc...

this topic pisses me off every fucking time. i sit in the family stand and i agree every so often there are empty seats but generally every seat around me is filled with the same faces each game, BUT to suggest this is a problem with the family stand is not true, at every sell out game there are empty seats in most areas. family stand it is bound to be more noticeable because if you cant go there might be a family of 5 missing, so it shows up. i cant go to mo, so neither can my boys, luckily someone from work wanted the tickets, beleive it or not it not that easy to even give away tickets for free.

the family stand is awsome, atmosphere is getting better and better in my opinion. loads of really young ones around us who love there footie and will be the core support into their teenage years and hopefully we will all stay where we are and the kids will grow up together.

it takes alot of planning and effort to take two young children city, and the club really look after us and appreciate what this means. why so many other fans cant see this is really annoying.

more love for us please. we might have a few gaps but we are significant.

I have no problem with a family stand per se

it's just that it is way way to big for the demand

but people are suggesting that the empty seats are season tickets holders, so demand appears to be fine for the size, they are just not passing tickets on.

some people even complain after cups games, when there is no family stand. empty seats and people are saying its our fault, 3rd teirs are closed, it makes no sense to blame us.
