End of Season Party vs Arsenal?!

I'm no fan of Pellegrini but his 2 League Cups count as major trophies.

They do indeed and if we only played lower league sides and premiership fodder in the league he might have won the premiership in the last two years, frankly he has been unlucky that they make us play some decent sides home and away every year, it's just not fair

I guess with some it is the fact that with Pellers there has never really been any true relationship with the fans

We have won trophies with both managers and I have said constantly that the board should take a lot of responsibility for this including some poor signings. If we don't get top four and we get knocked out in Madrid, would love to be a fly on the wall with their next meeting with Pep. I think the manager issue has and is an issue on here and within the fan base. The way Mancini was treated on here by some was absolutely shocking, and as soon as the tables are turned on Pellers many don't like it. History gets rewritten but won't go into that now. Now I have already seen comments on here by some Pellers fans already now questioning Pep, this manager situation is not going to end unless we all get behind Pep as fans no matter what happens. The hypocrisy on here though is staggering.

I'm confident Pep will unite all of us. He's on another level to any manager we've had in my lifetime.

Mancini inherited a top 4 squad which was underachieving then failed in his first season to get us into the top 4. Compare the Spurs side that beat us to that spot. He also inherited a side in the semi final of a cup and then we choked on that one too. The following summer we signed the likes of Silva and Toure. Yet the following season all we had to show for it was an FA Cup. What had been spent on the squad at that point? Any guesses? Was it a disgrace that we didn't mount a title challenge. Hell Mancini bought Dzeko in January on the premise that Edin would make the difference.

Anyone trying to make the Mancini v Pellegrini argument is going to lose. Both managers were of a similar level and achieved similar things. Pellegrini's progress in Europe probably gives him the edge but it's really marginal and not worth talking about unless we win the damn tournament.
A top four squad with Given Kolo Ireland Petrov Taylor Garrido Sylvinho Vidal Boyata and Weiss in the match day squad most weeks? Hmm

As I said I don't rate Pellegrini and I think he has taken us backwards but if we're discounting cups and only looking at top level league titles he's won as many as Mancini or Mercer. There's enough damning evidence in our "progression" during his three years without belittling what he has actually won.

I don't give him one ounce of credit for any trophy we have won, that is my opinion based on watching the team and his role in it for the last 3 years. A shit manager can win things in the right circumstances just as a good one can go all his career and win nothing.

He's always been too Kevin Keegan tactically for my liking and I rate Mancini as a superior manager in terms of organisation, tactics and the ability to build a team (although Txiki takes his share of responsibility in that area). I do think though he deserves a lot of credit for putting out the fires in the dressing room after Mancini's final season and stopping a possible implosion. Some of the football was quite enjoyable that first season, no?
