End of Season Party vs Arsenal?!

He's always been too Kevin Keegan tactically for my liking and I rate Mancini as a superior manager in terms of organisation, tactics and the ability to build a team (although Txiki takes his share of responsibility in that area). I do think though he deserves a lot of credit for putting out the fires in the dressing room after Mancini's final season and stopping a possible implosion. Some of the football was quite enjoyable that first season, no?

The first part of the season definitely

You've actually made my point inadvertently. You're right, poor league performances haven't come either side of CL games because the problem wasn't fitness it was mentality. The players weren't arsed about the fight for the PL and basically fucked off any match they went behind in. The argument that Pellegrini has personally prioritised the CL to further his own agenda is muck raking nonsense IMO. The players have prioritised the CL and that shows in THEIR performances. The manager doesn't go on the pitch and perform, and his preparation for all matches is generally equal.
I've not made your point mate. I've said he has picked the right team and formation in the CL. I don't think Bony, DM, Kolaroc, Delph and a Fernando/Toure midfield try and play shite. I just think they are shite and it's no surprise they figure in the league and not the CL.

How often has bony played in a 442 in the CL? Why is that? It's because our manager knows we don't play well that way.

And when the team weren't performs img for Bobby, you rightly laid much of the blame at his door. Why don't you do that to Pellegrini?

The info being leaked at the time put the blame firmly at Bobs door as well you know with him basically falling out with every man and his dog and the players basically downed tools with some of them threatening to leave if he didn't.

That has since been proven right.

I lay plenty of blame at Pellegrini's door. I fucking hate 442 with a passion. However that's a personal preference. Atleti play 442 a lot under Simeone. Leicester play 442. The problem isn't the shape of the team alone, it's also the performance of the players when put into that shape. Their discipline. 442 in the modern age requires intense amounts of discipline. The team has to be very compact. The players need to work off the ball. The difference in the amount of discipline the players show between the CL and the PL is stark. That isn't something the manager tells them to do.

You hate 442 with a passion? I've just spat my wine all over my laptop. Thanks for that. ;)

I hate admitting it but I've been counting the games down to Manuel going! This season bar the first 5 games and the recent champions league games has been shite and only for willy in the cup final would be a total disaster! I think we'll finish fifth as well and Manuel will fucking love that!

The players aren't motivated in away games. That is part of the managers job. it could be argued that we pulled the rug from under his feet by appointing Pep.
