Enforcer

We just need fair officiating for that to be possible.

Until then, having anyone play the enforcer is suicidal.
True, but Fernandinho got away with it for years. It was only when ratboy highlighted it with his "taking one for the team" and "dark arts" comments that refs started clamping down on him.

Yeah. We invented tactical fouling, so I suppose we deserve it.

I do agree we need some physicality and aggression. Rodri does provide that when pumped up. He did leave one on Hojbjerg last night, scraped boot down calf iirc.

We need more though, even someone like a Dave, impossible to get off the ball and every now and then would absolutely clatter players. 380 tackles and 252 fouls for us, massively underappreciated part of Daves game.

Dave was was a warrior poet.

The result is irrelevant,we are too placid and lack aggression,we are happy in a comfort zone for the majority of the time......the desire, hunger and inspiration that Dinho provided and ensured never fell below what was needed has long gone.

Thats what im talking about.....passion,fight and drive, from minute 1 till the they are back in the dressing room after the 90.

Maybe Dias can provide some of that, but i feel it also needs a player in the centre of the park too.

BTw.....it would seem the boss agrees,he was clearly livid that Lewis had the shit kicked out of him and no one seemed arsed.....that was fucking shameful.
Pep should be calling out the reffing. Since the World Cup restart we have not had adequate protection against the likes of Gallagher, Hojberg etc. and something needs to be done by the club. Maybe some gamesmanship where Rico does not start the next game and Pep says the cause is due to knocks received through lack of protection.

Typically we've had 10 of them charging around the pitch and not letting the opposition get a foot in, and that's worked pretty well for us. We'll always get booked for the first foul whilst the opposition make 5 or 6 challenges. Pep should call the refs out on that.

I don't think we need an enforcer, we just need more of that overall fight to win every challenge and battle for every ball. Ake showed it, Grealish came flying back to take out Son, Alvarez buzzing all over the pitch. That's what we need to see. Gundogan as captain doesn't really inspire that though. He's never going to stick his foot in. He'll cover ground as best as he can, but he's not going to go in for a 50/50 and lift the team and fans. I think as a fan base we still want that from a captain, even if our style is less aggressive. We like a player that shows that fight. Kompany, De Jong, Ferny, Dias for example.

Some players and clubs are untouchable. Fabregas once committed 15 fouls in one game against us and never got booked. Rudiger should have been sent off before he broke Kev's cheekbone in the CL final. They have this Obi One Kenobi quality mind control ability with refs ( there could be another reason of course). We wouldn't be allowed to get away with it. Unless we did it at the end of a game we were 3/4 nil up in and brought someone on. I'd like to apply for that job.
