England Thread - 2023/24

Can you believe that this guy seriously mulled over jacking in the England job before deciding to stay on after the world cup ..

Reason he decided to hang on is mist probably there were no offers for him from anyone of note.

Nevermind giving him the decision to make whether he'd stay in or not, he should have been removed from his position immediately after rolling over against France..

He's completely out of his depth, won nothing of note as a player or club manager and if it wasn't for fat Sam being greedy and using the England position to increase his earnings on the side, would be nowhere near the England job.

Managing the U21's and having a half decent record should not be the qualification to get the top job in English football..

Fcuk me, Pearce would be first in line if that was the case..

Waistcoat is such an uninspiring, grey, dull man.

He's souless, lacks passion and shows little emotion.

How can he motivate players ?

This is a guy who constantly picks Maguire and Henderson.

He should be sacked for that alone.

Ask yourself, who'd have him as manager after England.

He took Middleborough down as manager.

A quick look shows he won 45 of 151 games in charge.

Hodgson is in his late 70's at Palace, Southgate played for Palace, he'll probably end up there.

No disrespect to Palace but if he can't manage the best group of English players in a generation or two then he's going to do sod all at a team like Palace.

He'll pick Phil tonight and he'll most probably get kicked up and down..

Southgate has had his chance and against Croatia, Italy and France blew it each time.

He's just not got it and he will never have it because he's just not good enough..!

Exactly. Think it’s a defensive reaction to the criticism of his selections. Wish Pep would come out & discredit the so-called “conversation “ but he’s too discreet to knock the idiot down

And far too sensible to go public with his thoughts on the fake.

Absolutely over the moon the useless twat doesnt trust Foden, hopefully he doesnt have him anywhere near that pitch tonight and he comes back chomping at the bit to do well on Saturday afternoon

The one plus of Southgate being manager will be if Phil isn't played tonight.

The **** Robertson will no doubt be looking to kick fuck out of him otherwise, in retribution for Phil making him look a completely useless twat when playing against the dippers.

The likes of McTomminey and Robertson will be the yard dogs who haven't been fed for weeks, with genuinely talented players being their prey.

He'll play, that clueless FA lackey with the waistcoat will ensure he plays. He'll probably play him at left back but he will make an appearance. Then everyone will say Southgate was correct not to pick him previously.
The media really played up the angle of Walker scoring his first goal for England the other night, and the braindead all sang from the same hymn sheet: "One goal! Is that it? In all his appearances he's scored one goal?"

This time tomorrow the tabloids will be telling anybody that reads their garbage that Foden was out of his depth, couldn't string two passes together, let his colleagues down and basically, was a disgrace to the England shirt.

As City fans we know it will happen.

I'm all for keeping Southgate as manager if it stops Foden getting injured on international duty.
For the next set of internationals I want Pep to explain to Southgate why Stones can't defend and he has to push him into midfield but he wouldn't consider it if he had Henderson available.

Nah. It’s only a friendly so he’ll risk all our players & they’ll get kicked off the park

I don't understand it. You've got a talented young player and rather than build confidence by saying "he's good enough to play anywhere" even if you then play him out wide, you've done your job. Instead he claims he can't play in the middle, that Pep doesn't play him there even though he does and you destroy him.

He thought Phil drifted out wide against Newcastle. Go watch the youtube highlights Gareth, you'll see where Phil was picking up the ball and it was in the no 10 spot. Yes he moved into space, which is the sign of a good player and something you should embrace. Having Rice and Henderson static and stuck in a certain area is why we created fuck all the other night!
The **** barely played him on Saturday, in any position. Useless waistcoat Wanker

What is hypocritical about calling out the piss poor standard, and tactical shit shows,we are being subjected to because we have an inept clown in charge? Or calling out the unnecessary/useless games against cannon fodder that don't do a great deal more than risk injury or build caps for his usual, inept, undeserving, suspects?

I'm sure he would still take the job,and even at his advancing years.....could still do a far better job than this current ****.
Because he's just slated the standard of opposition England have to face in qualifying and saying "I'm bored. Give me the prem every time."
He was chomping at the bit to get out of PL club management and into the England job

I am so frustrated and angry that the useless twat remains in a position which can affect our players.

Absolute lack of charisma, talent or ingenuity and the powers that be decide that he should take charge of our talented players , and then completely wastes every bit of originality and ability our better players have.

Simply cannot watch England due my frustration with the twat at the helm.

The FA paying a fucking robot to try and do the job of a real coach.

The dinosaurs at the FA got their fingers burnt with BFS, GS was a "safe" option. no trophies but no scandal. He has never shown any promise as a tactics man, he is out of his depth at this level, incapable of innovation and inspiration, seems not to have grown into the job, or ever will...
And he'll be replaced by another yes man.
