The subs at the end made a lot of sense, Denmark were knackered and they weren't going to be running after the ball so all we had to do was play keeps. With an extra defender on we could push Henderson further into midfield to help keep it.

I'm not sure about the penalty, there was contact but it looked like he was going down before the contact... Who knows, I'll take it!

your talking as if England are playing like Burnley… we’ve played some good stuff this tournament.

if city beat Chelsea in the champions league final would you be as negative?

we haven’t won anything since 66, we don’t have to play like prime Barcelona we just need to win. Couldn’t care less if we play like we did.

do you want us to play like city? Even though we don’t have the players and we are through to the final. Can tell you only like club football

Playing like Burnley is pretty much what it's felt like to me. It's generally been lumped forward from the keeper. Even Kyle Walker was launching throw in's into the box on 30mins... The only interesting element was the tension half way through the second half last night that has made watching England in any way interesting so far in this tournament.

Not quite sure how the City beating Chelsea in the UCL relates to my negativity to the England playing style as city on the whole play attacking football regardless of the scenario and yes, this may have been to our detriment... I've got no issues losing playing expressively than winning by being defensive and somewhat fortunate (Which is what England are...). I know what values i'd align with and whats more interesting to watch.

I'd love England to play in a more expressive manner, we certainly have the playing talent to do so but Southgate clearly is too pragmatic to even consider it.

Let's see how it pans out in the final.

Kane has been poor, he is hardly involved, his Penalty was fortunate and really apart from that he made little impact.
Kane was one of our better players last night (in an all round very good display by the team).

He was much more mobile, dropping deeper, going out wide, all of which made space for Sterling and Saka. That alone makes your suggestion that he should be dropped absolute nonsense. But to say he made very little impact is beyond blinkered. Go and watch the equaliser again. Kane's pass takes about 5 Danes out of the game in the space of 15 yards. It was weighted to perfection. Similar (but better) than Sterlings pass to Kane against Ukraine. Absolutely Magic stuff from the skipper to go with an all round strong performance.

Kane started the Tournament quietly and looked immobile and ineffective in the first two matches. Since then he has had more influence and played better in every game up to and including last night. To suggest dropping him now and going with a false nine - when at his best Kane combines all the qualities of a false 9 with a world class true 9 - well let's just say I am happy that Southgate is in charge and not you.

But we didn't play keeps for a large part of 2nd half of et. We kept lumping it back to them. The subbing on of Trippier handed the initiative back to the Danes. It worked out ok but should it be similar against Italy, I would hope Southgate wouldn't do the same.

Southbanken. I thought Kane had his best game of the tourno last night and was clearly under orders to drop and collect as deep as he did. For me at times he was too deep, collecting a short pass when one of the midfielders could have done the job. Perhaps it says something about the limitations of the midfield that he did this? Whatever, it worked and it was a gritty, disciplined performance against an excellently organised but limited opposition. The final should be interesting but probably be a bore for those wanting end- to-end excitement. Unless there are injuries I would expect the same England line-up and system with only the right wing starter a question.

Reading opinions on this thread I do wonder whether some posters would have a different perspective and be happier if City were the pre 2008 model and England, however limited were the distraction taking the gloss and attention from the Scum or Chavs.

England just about deserved it, Sterling was the difference.

Denmark were excellent defensively and lively on the counter, but England dealt with that well and Walker had as good a game as I have seen him, totally justified his selection. Stones and Maguire look solid, Shaw who I think was fortunate to start the tournament in front of Chilwell has been superb. Kane has been poor, he is hardly involved, his Penalty was fortunate and really apart from that he made little impact. I wouldn't start him against Italy, I would play a false nine, one of Mount, Foden or Grealish with the wide men Sterling and Sako/Sancho pushed high and wide. Bonnuci and Chelini will eat Kane for breakfast, give them something different to think about.

Southgate frustrates me, he changes personal, not tactics and in normal time it was crying out for a change in tactics as we struggled to get behind them. Fair play to him though, it worked out in the end and you have to give him enormous credit for that. He made a tough call in bringing Grealish off to solidify the team and that took bravery.

Our only downside last night was our keeper, his kicking and throwing output let him down.

back 4 were great.

Kane although his penalty was poor, his overall play was great.
