There is always an anti national side set of fans at every club. On here though the last few days it seems because Foden isn’t starting. The fact we have progressed so far goes lost, and the hate over takes it. Im not sure why they bother posting to be fair. If they’re not arsed about the national side, or calling bias at each turn, must be in their interests to go and read the politics forum where they can have a proper moan.

And yet you encourage their participation with your posts, very odd.

Maybe I'm tactically inept despite the football I've seen over years but how does foden not walk in that side? Attitude? Seems a very eager young man. Honestly questioning my ability to spot a good footballer when I see he's that far down for England.

Genuinely interested to opinions more informed than mine as to why he doesn't start.

Best English player since Gazza for me
Foden has said Pep has asked him to "slow down", maybe his over exuberance and trying too hard makes him appear less experienced than he is.

I just noticed the second ball on the pitch for quite a while leading up to the penalty. Sorry if it's been mentioned already!

How soft a penalty it is can be debated, but there is very clear contact from both Danish players.

Yep, watched it a few more times. Changed my mind. It is a penalty, but on the second challenge (24) most clearly, rather than the first, in my opinion. It's not just ‘contact’ (which means nothing, there's ‘contact’ on virtually every single corner of virtually every single match). Raz is in effect barged over, with the defender having no hope of getting the ball.
Anyway, there's been too much focus on this by everyone. England played substantially better than Denmark, and are rightly through to the final. Schmeichel had to pull out some superb saves. Italy will be a considerably tougher nut, I think. They are very, very fast on the break.
How much credit should Southgate get? I think it's pretty open. I've never been too sure how much credit Pellegrini should have got for our 2014 title (the team was brilliant, and would have been under quite a few managers, in my view), and his limitations were exposed in subsequent seasons. There's a lot of talent in that England team, whatever anyone says. It just hasn't been fully expressed. But they are in a final.
