One clear test every time of whether they were tripped or dived. Tripped and the arms instinctively go outwards to break the fall. This isn't a choice is an involuntary action. Where they dive the arms go upwards to try to accentuate the fall. Sterling's arms go outwards. I wish more refs and pundits would recognise this.
