I'm going to hold off until I see the real line-up and subsequent result but you do get the impression that Southgate is setting himself up for pelters with that leaked team. No Foden and starting Maguire really are strange choices.

You have to give Southgate credit where it's due though. He's achieved more than almost all of his predecessors (many who had better players at their disposal (cough, cough, Sven). Hopefully, we can take the next step this year.

I think being pro Palestine in Muslim country is quite a bit different to campaigning for gay rights in a Muslim country though

That’s why no fuss was made about

It’s not about whether people are allowed to make a statement with an arm band, it’s about what that statement is.

Actually, the rules say no political symbols. They even tried to stop England wearing the poppy Ffs.

I’m sure that is the rules but that’s not really going to matter at this world cup

There is absolutely no way that FIFA are going to caution somebody for wearing a pro Palestine arm band while sitting in a muslim country. That’s a road they definitely don’t want to go down.
 
I really think this England team needs to be built around as many players that have played with each other as possible. I'd be inclined to put Foden in a 10 and Grealish on the left, giving them both the freedom to swap positions, something we have seen work at City.

Foden

Saka - Kane - Grealish

What i think he will go for is the same back 4:

Rice - Bellingham

Mount

Saka - Kane - Sterling
