Lot of hate here for Hodgson - give him a break; I thought he got a relative silk purse out of a pigs ear. We just don't have the players - Joe and the defence did well as did Wellbeck in my mind. Seriously lacking in midfield Gerrard and Parker pretty anonymous; and while on the topic of Gerrard does anyone else think he is a totally unispirational skipper?

He really didn't. He's wedded to 4-4-2, when the rest of Europe has moved on and he chose to play negative defensive tactics, he chose the players, he chose to play for penalties and he chose to play Ashley Young every minute of every game. Roy Hodgson is NOT the man to lead England, he's part of the problem. England don't produce the players because we don't have good enough coaches to coach them. Stuart Pearce and Roy Hodgson in charge of the England National team and the U21's is embarrassing!

Interested in different opinions so what would you have done differently then mate?

We should have had Chamberlain on the left, Walcott on the right, Carroll up top with Gerrard in attacking midfield getting forward to support him. Parker holding with Milner closing down the wide open spaces that we left for Italy to dominate midfield. I'd have had Richards at right back, and I'd have taken Adam Johnson and used him as an impact sub.

Given the job to Harry Redknapp
Ah yes, Redknapp the tactical mastermind who will make either the 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2 work differently because of his tactical astuteness

Easy answer - again I admit we haven't got the players but I think Roy got us as far as anyone could have. Hopefully a few youngsters will come through to replace the golden generation and we'll have happy days ahead.

It's not just about getting as far as we can though. At least with Redknapp we would've had a go and attacked. I just cannot abide Roy's negative, boring, defensive, embarrassing tactics. Just my IMO.

Would German fans tolerate a German manager like Hodgson and his tactics? Or are England fans too soft?

As long as you win nobody will really questioning your tactics. Just ask the Greeks if they enjoyed watching their team in 2004. You need to have the right players to produce creative and successful football.

I wouldn't mind if we did win but we don't, that's the problem. I would rather us exit a tournament with an attacking style than like this.

Rooney and Ashley Young were the worst players on the pitch and I don't think I am being bias saying that.

Worst players I'd go Rooney, Young, Johnson, Parker and Wallcot. Seriously Wallcot was on the pitch for what 60 minutes and did the sum total of FUCK ALL.

thought Johnson wasn't too bad and Parker worked hard but today showed we are embarrassingly inept in ball retention and technique department.

Glen Johnson has the footballing intelligence of a dead toad. He's got all the tools he can defend he can attack he's just fucking stupid though and can't work with people he's all over the place. Seriously when was the last time Glen Johnson linked up well with someone in front of him that played on the right side of midfield.

If Wilshere is fit(/not banned) then it's got to be him with either Carrick or Barry in a two man defensive midfield surely for 2014 qualifiers. Give Gerrard more freedom in front of those two, but then I can't decide who's going to fill the remaining 3 places. 1 cf, 2 (more- if Gerrard plays behind 9) playing just off him, Micah and Cole provide width? That's what I'd play anyway.
Typically it will be;
Hart, Walker, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Wilshere, Parker, Gerrard, Young, Rooney, Welbceck
