They're all different moulds to be fair.

Both Gerrard and Barry can run games for England, Rooney when he fancies it can make an impact too or Lampard if he's picked.

wilshere has the potential, he did not look out of place against xavi and iniesta against barca last year.

This is our bigger problem, we hugely overrated players in our team based off a handful of performances. Wilshere has done nothing, and proved nothing. He's a kid and should be way behind proven talents until he's had a few years at the top.

he is only young,and has been rather unfortunate with injury. he did get arsenal player of the season during his first full season with them.

Im not an england basher, i want my country to do well but that would have been a travesty had we put out italy tonight. How Carroll was allowed on the same pitch as Pirlo is an insult to football. Rooney and Young were dogshit too.
The defence was strong and the back 5 can hold their heads high, but the forwards were dire (wellbeck excepted, i thought he played well and shouldnt have been taken off). As soon as we reverted to hoof ball, the game was lost. The technical gap between the 2 teams was embarrassing. The english national side is declining rapidly and i think we're going to slip in to obscurity for the next decade. ITs a good job we lost tonight because i dread to think what would have happened against germany.

Truth is, QF is just about the level and has been for a long time. Top 8 in Europe and top 12 maybe in the world. A few good players sometimes, a good manager now and then, but that doesn't change the basics.

Reaching the QF was about what to expect.

Team clearly needs change in a lot of areas over the next two years though ....
