England v Italy

why the fuck would he play?

if he is not good enough to play in his actual position why should he be force fitted into the team where he weakens the team even more by being shite out of position

DROP THE **** FFS

Sorry everyone but England (we) played our best tonight and we didn't even draw against Italy who have struggled in their last 10 games (even against Luxembourg)

That about says it all

Wayne Rooney's heat map tonight.

"Play Rooney in his best position" Except Sturridge is better up front, Sterling and the Ox are better out wide and Wilshire and Barkley are better number 10's. His best position is the fucking bench.

Rio defending Rooney on BBC, Rooney has never scored in the World Cup, those stats say it all.
We had so many chances to get back in the game, and then possibly win it.
But fuck it, we aren't going to win the a World Cup, so let's get things in proportion, at least , we didn't get hammered a al Spain......

I agree with the poster who would rather see us go down having a go. I thought there were some good performances tonight. Sterling and sturridge were excellent and I thought Barkley did well when he came on.

Rooney wasn't great but it was a great cross of his that led to the goal.

Defence was a mess and that includes Hart who was very average.

TBF he didn't mean that cross, he tried to tap it past the defender and put too much on it.

Seriously though, he had one good touch in 90 minutes. I don't think a player has been so undeserving of his reputation than Rooney. At international level at least.

I agree and that is the problem - nothing will change until that is addressed and the FA are are not willing to sort the issue full on
Absolutely bang on. I am a FA referee and Frankly I am disgusted at how shite ourgrassroots football is compared to the rest of Europe. I am about to referee in spain this summer and I have refereed in Germany and I have watched grass roots football in Spain and they are miles ahead because the FAs and the governments are pumping large amounts of money into grass roots sport and top quality coaches. England are a fucking Joke.

yep and there in lies the massive problem in this country, my lad is 8 and is playing for his local team - the coaching is not great is very basic. Other teams met at tournaments are totally disgusting shouting and berating kids for making a mistake,

I have decided to take my lad to a local futsal team that is being recognised in the north west to improve him overall.

The grass roots level in our country is fucking shocking and has not moved any further onwards since I was kid back in 1985
I see it week in week out when I Referee and it hurts in a way because I am in refereeing because I love football and I am seeing kids who have alot of potential who are being fucked over by poor coaching and disgusting attitudes coming from the sidelines . And in a way thats where I see our new academy being crucial for the developement for the national side. But its only us who are investing so much and thats wrong. But there's no great quantities of quality coaches in grassroots which is what yo see in Europe

We still believe....we still believe. ...

Or lose and we're out.

More likely. They'll be a wounded animal and we'll be... Gash.

And I can only imagine how the Costa Rican match will go.
