"Football's Comin' Home" (rather earlier than expected by some)

Lose against Uruguay and it is the case of don't bother unpacking.
To be fair, Uruguay look like the worst team at the WC so far, except maybe Cameroon. I'd be amazed if we don't give their incredibly slow defenders a torrid time

It will still be very difficult. Suarez will be chomping at the bit.

Not sure about that mate, three points could get you second in this group, if Italy win all their games. Not saying I'd be confident of qualifying if we lost to Uruguay, but we would still have a decent chance.

.....and on someone's arm.......................I'll get me coat

Defensively poor especially down the left (their right) where they easily got into dangerous positions time and again. Rooney should have been replaced at half time for his failure to do the necessary tracking back to help Baines out (who himself had a poor game). Not sure Sterling had such a great game as the press made out. Yes he played well and was a threat but he wasn't THAT good. Does Gerrard bring anything to the team ? If so, I can't see it. Glen Johnson is appalling. He just can't defend well enough at this level and was nowhere to be seen when Mario scored.

On Thursday, Hodgson should play Barkley behind Sturridge with Welbeck (pains me to say) and Sterling either side of him. Milner and Henderson would provide better cover than Henderson and Gerrard but of course the captain won't be dropped.

This is Joe Hart's reaction to Pirlo's free kick.

Actually impressed with England last night. Put in a solid shift and looked dangerous throughout.

Always assumed it'd be Italy/Egland 1-2 getting out of the group - Uruguay was always overrated, and it's showing. Attack and little else.

If Costa Rica get spanked against Italy then I would be more confident but still they seem to be a resilient bunch and getting a result in that game will be very tricky.
