I like to think when other players are getting bigged up for lesser contributions Phil just closes his eyes and thinks about the 9 League and Cup Winners medals he has at 22 years of age and has little smile to himself.

Agree on Rodri/Rice it looked like Stones's head was going to explode with frustration at times. Rodri could show him but he'd have to charge.
Does he do milkshakes in his yard?

I do like Rice. He's just not really a metronome of sorts. Although, in the remaining England games, he's not likely going to be doing too much of that anyway.

Rice does what he’s very good at in a team that doesn’t always have the majority of possession. You could argue the France game will suit him down to the ground as they’ll probably have the majority in that game. Put Phillips in next to him instead of Henderson in this one and we win. Against the lesser sides he’s found wanting as he just doesn’t play the role he’s being asked to do often enough, not a criticism but that’s just the way I see it.
Must admit, I was thinking the same but don’t really see Henderson being dropped.
I think Rice’s work rate could be invaluable for breaking up the French play. Similar work rate and mobility from Phillips may release Bellingham quickly.

Very interesting to see what way Southgate sets you up.

I think he’ll try to nullify Mbappe which may lead to giving up possession and striking on the break, because I’m not sure you have a midfield that can hold the ball and dictate the pace against the better teams.

I actually think Henderson could be the weak link in that.

Got to keep Rice in against France as he can close down Griezmann however against teams we gave the majority of the ball he needs to either develop taking the ball off his CH’s or he needs leaving out of those games. It’s the whole point of having a 26 man squad so you can rotate to suit the opposition.

Same back 4 as Sunday. Rice, Phillips as a double pivot, Bellingham in front of those 2 with the same front 3.

Goes with that and we’ll outscore the French on Saturday.

Up here in Scotland, after an indifferent attitude, people started to take notice after England qualified from their group. In the aftermath of the Senegal game, the anger now is mounting, along with the usual collective insanity. The sale of French tops will be going through the roof as we speak, many of which will be on show in the packed city centre bars come Saturday night.

Think there's a lot of over the top criticism of Rice, here. He hasn't been that bad. There are other midfielders that can drop and have been as bad for hiding. Just they've been hiding up top out of sight.

Fuck em…..

Don’t care to be honest

Resigned he’s leaving now

Best ever player I’ve seen in a Hammers shirt in my years of going
Did you not see Cole or lampard play then.
Don’t get me wrong I actually like rice and think he’s a very good player . Seems a decent lad as well.

However this tournament has shown me like others have pointed out he looks slightly limited in being able to receive the ball and dictate play. Stones and Maguire have no one to play into and it’s quite telling that he gets himself marked therefore not being on a position to receive the ball and build the play.

Maybe this will come if he moves on and is coached better in this position.
