The individual quality of England's players won that game, and imo it will probably get England all the way to the final, but they won't win it. Put a decent manager in charge of that squad and they would win everything. But Wayne Rooney is probably ear marked as next manager if getting to a final is not enough to keep Southgate but it probably will

England will be better if they play more direct as we don't have the central midfielders with the football intelligence to do anything else. The defenders not having anyone to pass to has been a problem for several years under Southgate. Goodness knows why he has not managed to sort it out by now. I can only think he cannot see the problem. Either way, it's incompetence.

If he wants to keep playing Kane then play Toney/Watkins next to him, Kanes legs look shot to pieces. His press is non existent, so get someone next to him to do the running, then when Kane does his dropping back routine at least there’s someone up top to look for.

Say what you want about Southgate, but he really did mend bridges between team, fans and press. Very frustrating watching Bellingham and Kane destroy all that to protect their own egos.
