England v Ukraine - Sun 26th March 2023, 17:00

No I don't have a weird agenda. It was just enough to beat a poor Ukraine side

They won by two goals, could and should have scored at least a couple more, and Ukraine didn't have a shot on target.

But you do you.

An observation. Most football fans in this country know they have no chance of winning trophies because that’s basically reserved for the top teams in the Premiership which is why so many of them unlike fans of the trophy winning teams, are passionate about England. I get it even though if truth be told, I hate international breaks and care more about Arsenal than England.

Thank God everyone isn't like you then. The World Cup is and will always be the pinnacle of football.

I do wish against opposition like UNITED he would take the leash off a little bit more. There was never any danger of them beating us on our own turf. But for PEP, winning 2-0 gives us the same points as winning by 4 or 5 and he will always be a "job done" type, so we have to be okay with that. Also he annoys me with how long he takes to make changes.

Still, it's nit-picking more than actual faults. He's done far better than anyone would have ever imagined when he took over the reigns.
Just for a bit of fun, I've changed Southgate for "Pep" and Ukraine for "United" ... and you'll see it's the same kind of post you see a lot on BlueMoon! :)

It does show though that for fans we want to beat teams 10-0 but managers rarely get any credit for a "job-done" 2-0 win!

Difference is City know when to really step it up when it matters and mostly have been very successful as a team (especially since the Sheikh Mansour's takeover). England haven't won anything since 1966.

I agree, the World Cup will always be the absolute pinnacle for me as well. That said, I'm pushing 50 and I do wonder whether for younger people it's the CL that's the pinnacle.

I love the fact the WC is every 4 years and is the biggest sporting event in the world. There's simply nothing like a WC game to bring the country together! :)

I love my club and I love the Champions League. But for me nothing in football would beat the feeling of seeing England win a World Cup, perhaps even a Euros. I won't count the one from a couple of years ago though even if we had have won the penalties because people would only have been harping on about winning it on penalties and how fortunate we were with the draw.
