I thought he was quite good last night but he's raw and gets caught. He did twice against Nketiah at the Etihad when we played Arsenal. Luckily we got away with it that night, but Aubameyang is on a different level.

He always will though due to our style of play. It’s not that he’s raw, he reads the game very well but he has no pace whatsoever. There is absolutely nothing he can do about that.

So you don't go tight, you position yourself so you're on the half turn and you've got a yard start. That will come with experience. I agree that he reads the game very well, however as Tricky_Trev said he will struggle (certainly whilst he's learning the game) in a team that plays a high line.
To be fair to him it's clearly a tactic and we conceded a similar goal to Leicester City, when Vardy ran away from Ferna.

Yeah but when as a team you play as high as we do having so little pace against the likes of Vardy, Rashford and Mane it’s inevitable he gets exposed at some point no matter what he does.

Some people on here need to take a long look at themselves after some of the posts they have made about this kid, the years we have been pushing for players to come through the academy and then when we do it's like we can't wait for them to fail.

The kid is 19 years old and is keeping Stones and Otto out of the side, there is a good reason for this and Pep sees it every day, I am not saying he is world class but he is an excellent player who will only get better with coaching and experience.

He will make mistakes and will learn from them to become a better player, I agree he isn't there yet and that is one reason why we are looking to bring in KK, but his reading of the game is exceptonal for his age so FFS lets not write him off because he couldn't keep up with Auba.

He’s being picked now because of the alternatives, as a 3rd or 4th choice at 19 that’s ideal for him which is what he’ll be next season. Then he’ll have a 2 or 3 years to develop. Only then will we know whether he will make it with us as a first choice centre back. We only need to look at our transfer targets to know the club are thinking pretty much the same way.

His pace and height will always be brought into question , and a centre back without these two attributes will struggle , and it is not something you can improve , but he reads the game well doesnt get flustered and is neat on the ball , he is our second best centre back at the moment but the arrival of a player like Koubailly will demote him to the bench for the big games.
Still a good squad player and would be loathe to let him go , we need to encourage our academy players , to be fair to the lad La Liga and a slower more technical game would suit him more and he could flourish at Barca , i wouldnt be surprised if he decided to leave if we sign another top class centre back.

If this lad was playing for Southampton, or any other PL team, do you think we'd go out and buy him after seeing how slow and tactically unaware he is?
