Eric Garcia to Barcelona

Why would it be a dream move? He already decided to leave there once.
He left for a nice contract at a very young age and probably thought he had a better chance to progress at City.
Any Spanish guy who comes to live in Manchester has my utmost respect for the difference in culture, lifestyle and particularly climate must be incredibly difficult.
The opportunity to return to Barca for Garcia was always a big possibility and I would not blame him at all if he wanted to return IF he gets the chance.

Brahim Diaz made a 'dream move'.

Garcia is in the Manchester City first team and well regarded. I think he will stay if he believes he has a chance to play in the Manchester City first team. I don't think any young player would give up that opportunity at such a young age.
Diaz was always on the fringes of our squad, it was going to be as difficult to break into out 1st squad as it was at Madrid. The difference was a return to his homeland and a very big improved contract.

Off topic @richards30. Moreover, you demonstrate your ignorance when you assert Tebas is in Barca's corner

Tabas may not be in Barca’s corner as you assert but he is clearly happy for the Spanish league to be dominated by two clubs who take a disproportionate percentage of tv revenues that allows them to financially dominate the league. It’s hard to see how the other teams see Tabas acting in all their best interests when the league is quite clearly structured to favour two teams. Of course the PL is no bastion of fairness but the distribution of collective revenues are presently distributed far more fairly and objectively than they are in Spain.

Unlikely, particularly when you consider you got him for free and was fully developed by Barcelona - hence why the player has rebuffed a contract extension, knowing full well the club will not pay a big fee for him. City have invested 3 years, Barcelona a decade. Naive to think otherwise.

Clear Pep & City have made the player feel important and expressed their trust in his future but similarly City & Pep also know that if the will of the player is to return to his home club there is little they can/will do to stop it. Domenech pointed out his desire to return is predicated on Barca showing an interest in his return - if they do not, he will stay of course. Perhaps Pep, like Luis Martin or Adrian Sanchez, does not have confidence this board prioritize his return - we'll see as I have my doubts as well

all the first paragraph is irrelavant - in any market the value of a player is what the seller puts on something - yes there will be negotiations but we will sell if we need to (like we did with Sane - 55m for a player agitating for a move for over a year who clearly didnt want to be here). So for example city may sell 25m for Garcia - Barca wil go no way and we will say ok he stays here and if we have to give him away in 12/18 months on a free we will do - we are in a strong er position with Garcia than with Sane as we have direct replacements for him whetehr senior or Youth plus those out on loan - so we can really afford to make you(and Garcia) wait if we want. therefor a deal will be done if thats what the player idicates he wants to happen at this point in his career - he might decide he doesnt want it yet - he may look at the political situation at your club and say no chance at present as well.
Barca may not want to wait and neither may Garcia - 12 months sat on the sidelines and only being used if absolutely needed does him no good

What you say int he second paragraph is true of ANY player regardless of whether its Barca or city or Madrid - if a player doesnt want to be somewhere they have the power - make no mistake of it either however - If Garcia doesnt want to be here Pep will quickly change his approach to him (not publically perhaps but he will) Sane was fit for the last 7-8 games of this season and got about 3 mins on the pitch - the same will happen to Garcia.

A prediction like that is pretty presumtious and arrogant for anyone to make - its like us saying Phil foden will be a city player forever cause he is a city fan - if his chances became limited or the club decided he want the player we needed he would leave. Of course if he is a Barca boy he may want to return one day (but that day might be a long way off)

For what its worth, I rate Garcua BUT I wold happily sell him to Barca - Long term I think he will struggle in the prem league and I have always thought that.

What pisses of fans of clubs however is clubs like Munich using the press to unsettle players. - lets hope Barca show a little more class than that and if they want him, operate in an honest and straight forward nature without members of your board, maangement or players spouting off int he media about him - if they dont do that I will have no prpblem selling him to Barca at all

The hypocrisy of that racist twat is beyond belief - the disengeniousnes of his comments are as bad as any politician - a very blatant attempt to maintain the dominence of the elite clubs - all based on profit - the Spannish league is boring - yes two great teams but virtually no one else stands a cat in hells chance

Same in Germany as well

At least the prem league is competative ause he likes of us and Chelsea broke the cartel - i was sort of hoping Newcastle might do the same as well as that would really put the cat amongst the pigeons especially as dislike city and Chelsea they are a one club town (no direct rivals besides Sunderland) and that means they would be straight away be in competition with the rest of the league without havign to even concern themselves with dominance within their own area.

Well written. The only thing making this sort of "viable" is that the level of the league is high (compared to others) which allows two other clubs additionally enter CL. So clubs (let's say the most ambitious ones) have something to fight for. Nevertheless terms of competition (including refereeing policy) are ridiculously unfair making it extremely hard (if not impossible) for everybody else to make a serious challenge for the first 2 places.

In 4 out of the 5 "big" leagues competition is literally killed. Fact. A status quo the establishment naturally wants to maintain for ever. UEFA and the media work in the same direction.

Tebas is despised by nearly any cule so the OP was so far off base he/she might as well have confused black with white

The TV revenue topic is a very different one and Tebas has little to do with Barca enjoying an equal lion's share of that - it's simple economics, those two clubs dominate the country in terms of interest, viewers, sponsors or any other financial metric. You generate more, you get more normally.

I do not, however, agree that this imbalance should continue - better revenue sharing is critical to the future of the league in the modern game but I would prioritize ridding the officiating from it's obvious bias

Good post - can’t really disagree with anything of that.

Irrelevant to you perhaps but pertinent to the topic since this is not Barca's first rodeo with former La Masia players trying to make the pilgrimmage back to the club. They will not overpay for players they developed much less left via the backdoor (Which is what was considered in Eric's case) - those cantera players need to assert themselves for a return and absolutely will not pay normal market fees.

What you say int he second paragraph is true of ANY player regardless of whether its Barca or city or Madrid

Nope. Barca is quite unique in this regard, I know of no other big club that has the same pull from cantera players. In particular, Pep (ditto for Txiki) would never prevent much less complicate a cantera player's return if he wanted it

Not sure what prediction you believe I am making

There's a detente between City & Barca atm, not sure who negotiated it but they play nicely for the most part of late. And as I said, because of the key people involved (Txiki, Pep & Eric) there is no chance it would descend into anything unprofessional. If the board want the player back, he will be returning - I have no doubt as I trust Domenech, he has never lied in the media with respect to transfers (Esp. involving cantera players as he was one once too). The question really is whether the player was playing Oriol (Which I doubt) or if the board will prioritize him (I also doubt)

I want it to happen but I think there are so many other transfer variables & priorities that board will give only the illusion of pursuit as Oso said on twitter

Why wouldn't you want that imbalance to continue? It's in your favour for it to. If La Liga shares revenue fairly as they do here, more clubs become attractive to investors and more competitive due to funds available. That means the league is harder and Barca and Real will have a tougher challenge in winnint it nearly every year. Do you want that?!
