It is not going to break down. He is just trying to act half professional. As someone pointed out before, U21s don't get spoken to from January like players on a professional contract, so if he were to admit to agreeing a move with Barcelona, effectively admit to tapping up.

Given our other targets and squad places the only way I can see us giving him his extension now is so we can loan him for the season and then sell. He'd of course have to be fully understanding of the plan and agreeable. Purely speculation BTW.

He's just trying to remain professional whilst still under employment of another club. I don't get why so many are so bitter about Garcia. We poached him from barcas academy in the first place and he was straight enough with everybody from the off to tell them he wants to go back and wouldn't be signing a new deal, it's not on him to negotiate a transfer fee before his contract runs down. Footballers or more accurately their agents are often slimy and underhanded, Garcia been professional and upfront I have zero problems with him leaving us in the summer to go play for his boyhood club.

He would have been a good club trained squad player here had he stayed but at Barca he's higher up the food chain such is the state of their squad.
