Eric Garcia to Barcelona

No idea, we'll see in the coming weeks. Wouldn't be surprised if the new board have withdrawn Bartomeu's rich offer that had tempted Garcia to leave, and altered its terms in a sensible way
That was my first thought. If that's the case we'll see how homesick he really was.

Wasn't Garcia's agent previously Puyol?
When did he change to de la Pena (and why?).
Would Pep want Garcia to stay even though we have four other centre backs?

iirc, he was represented by both at the time of Barca-City transfer. Garcia is a valuable squad player, of course Pep would want him to stay

Interesting!

I think he’s done with us. He’s fifth choice here - and even despite his youth and limitations, he deserves better than that.

But it might well be the path to Barca isn’t quite as straightforward as it was under Bartomeu.

Still think he’ll end up there, but there could be a chance for another team to step into the uncertainty. He’s a great option on a free!

He'd want him to stay because he's club trained and doesnt take up a squad spot, cheap and on low wages, a decent backup backup option, and if he extended his deal, a decent fee if/when sold.

That ship must truly have sailed though.

He will end up at Barcelona, but there will be a haggle. Otherwise, Arsenal and PSG may step in, on a free transfer.
Whic would be fuuucking great, as barca would have missed out on him by playing the haggling game.
