The only defender to win the Fifa world player of the year is 5'9". You can make up for lack of height with high jumping ability. But you can't make a giant CB more nimble.
Not many defenders get into the first team of a top club at his age. Puyol was still in the B team and older.

Yeah but fabio had an insanely high football iq, was surprisingly quick and deceptively strong garcia doesn't have those qualities. I can't see garcia being a world class cb maybe I'm wrong but I don't see it.Never got the stuff about him being too short, he is 6' tall

Cannavaro and Puyol also had an insane leap.
Feel like I'm one of a few City supporters who still likes the lad but he's not exactly athletic.
