Erling Haaland

Sorry pal, accept your opinion but Foden was already rated way above him by international scouts and coaches. Way way above. Brahim had mad close control skills but ha a fatal lack of acceleration. Also a main difference was everyone knew Phil was a blue so everyone knew he was unobtainable The best Spanish kids always want to go home in the end. Pointless signing them imo
How much pointless profit did we make on Brahim?

A big challenge now is how we handle his career. We have fucked up so many prospects with terrible loan club decisions. For an elite club our youth coaches are absolutely fucking pitiful. We actually pay some twat 70k a year to place lads on loan and that twat has failed time after time

And we are about to do the same again, by loaning pablo moreno, a highly rated talent who spent the season around Juve's first team, to bloody Girona.

Can we keep on topic guys? Was hoping this might be Haaland related when I saw new posts on the Haaland thread ;-)

Topic? This whole thread is off topic!

Just an individual strand of the 'playets that might improve us' thread.

Delap also has the 'everything else' to go with the build, plus the workrate & attitude.

There is basically nothing, he lacks.

It's purely down to how he translates it to senior football.
Has Delap got Haaland's lightening speed, clinical finishing, intelligence and awareness of players around him though? These are some of the features that seem to set Haaland apart from other strikers. Genuine question I've not seen Delap in action.

Yeah Brahim always played with his head down. Basically to be as greedy as he is he needed a much better turn of pace. No doubting he’s very talented but seriously lacks Foden’s footballing brain and vision.

His old man is on record stating his lad didn't go to United because there was uncertainty over the longevity of Solskjaer.

Alf was a guest of ours last year at the Etihad and Txiki went to Anfield to also watch him play in the Champions League game.

He preferred other options at the time and Raiola has ensured Alf and his dad will earn even more cash in the longer term.

Raiola was on the way out at United but he is now in a position of strength again because they need to renew on Pogba.

Haaland will be able to take his pick.
hello sir ?
Any updates about MESSI ?
Have our chance of 15% obtaining messi increased or decreased ?

Absolutely, He`d beat a couple of players but very little would come of it because he wouldn`t pass the ball. Knowing when to pass Or seeing the options fast enough to change the game is what makes an average but tricky player into great player and sometimes a world beater.

If he maintains his current level or better, he has to be given the occasional go, from the bench etc. If he doesn't then it's irrelevant of course.

But all the bullshit about 'oh it's too risky', 'we can't use kids when...etc etc..' has been proven to be total shit, when the manager plays a slow, weak kid at the key position of centre back.

There is no excuse now, for players like Delap & also Braaf, Tommy Doyle etc, not getting some time on the pitch.

Doesn't have to be starting games at this stage, just get them involved here & there.

He is 17, so is not currently an alternative to Haaland, he's someone who should be brought through so we can find the answer to those questions over the next year or two.

He appears to have everything a CF would need & is better than any young CF I can remember seeing at that age, but I didn't see Shearer etc so can't directly compare.

And whose place on the bench are they gonna take?

Ake? KK?

It's all very good saying we should put youngsters on the bench but 1- we finished 18 points behind Liverpool last season and 2- We already have a squad where a number of senior players don't get anywhere near enough minutes.

And yet we ended up with Garcia actually playing.

There is always a place for a young player on every bench, with the number of subs available & the amount of fucking about Pep does, with the team. It's easy. 'First team' players who don't play, are not 'first team" players. Play them or drop them & sell them.

There is no longer an excuse, that it's too risky, because he has taken the biggest risk of all, by playing a slow kid at CB.

At what level do you expect Garcia will reach. Where will he go in his career.
If he is slow and weak, not promising for a centre back.

Don't know if he's slow & weak due to growing up. Gareth Bale went through a phase where he lost a lot of his athleticism due to growth.

But never seen Garcia be quick previously so doubt he'll get much pace. He can grow muscle but will that help him run or jump ? John Terry was slow but good in the air great at basic defending & violent. Garcia seems to often have his body in the wrong position to defend, so doesn't seem a natural to replicate John Terry as a defender.

He doesn't have anything like the aggression & mobility of Puyol.

His passing is excellent.

Can Barca afford to have a cb who is just there to sweep up & pass it out ? Back 3 maybe with a couple of fast players ?

I would have tried him at def mid, if I was Pep.

As a centre back, I'd expect him to end up playing wherever Karim Rekik is.
