Erling Haaland

Ultimately I hope today people here overreact a little less and think more rationally.

There is nothing wrong with Haaland’s dad going around listening to the projects clubs have for his son. In fact, he did literally the same “tour” before he sent him to Dortmund. We believe we are the best sporting club, so why do we not have the confidence? We can’t expect him to want one club only before listening to all interested.

Yes it felt like a circus yesterday, but people need to understand the environment in Spain (Madrid and Barcelona). You have A LOT of shows on tv and radio that happen one after the other in an endless number of stations. Each one of those has a bunch of journalists whose “brand” is to have “exclusive” info. What could have been expected after they found out Haaland’s dad and agent were visiting the clubs they cover for a living? Exactly what we got, a shitload of bogus claims. Just a replay of the Messi circus last summer. That is how they operate there. It’s hard to say this, but I don’t blame Raiola or Alf for any of that; they had no control over it once they got photographed at the airport— which I am fairly convinced was by design of Barcelona president J. Laporta. There should be another circus when “the tour” arrives in London, but a lesser, classier one, and they might not even get photographed.

As I said before, I found out that Txiki and Raiola actually get along very well. Alf knows us. The meeting should go down well and what we will present will be strong. We also have the money. We should be confident.

I’m repeating myself here, but this moment for us could be compared to when PSG made big investments in Mbappe and Neymar. They were also known as a wealthy club, but despite that fame, they lacked that major signing. If you look at the list of their biggest transfers, you will see obviously Neymar and Mbappe at the top in terms of how much they cost. However, number three is well below, and it literally was a signing (I forgot who, sorry) that cost the same as our current transfer record. It was a matter of chance. We would have closed a deal with Mbappe back then had he wanted us; we wanted him and were ready to pay what it would take. There hadn’t been a generational talent like that before in which we were in a position to sign and there hasn’t been another one since until now. And here we are again. This could be our moment to make that “leap” in terms of numbers like PSG made with Mbappe.
This is a quality and measured post.

Without Haaland Dortmund were 2nd in Germany, with him they are 5th. What's the theory about their bad league campaign? His team-mates? The manager? Both?

I don't have any doubts Haaland is a top talent, but I'm not sure he is worth 200m (with the fees for his father and the fat **** who is his agent). Hope another club makes the mistake to pay that for him and give him obscene wages.

I trust Txiki and Pep. If they think we need to pay whatever money Dortmund and Raiola want, they may well be right. The backlash against our owners and the club will be huge though. The criticisms we have faced so far may look mild in comparison.

Kane may be a better strategic option wrt the image of the club in England: England's top star and captain. He won't be cheap, mind.

We have to believe that as per usual we have a replacement lined up.When the deal is done they will announce it on city tv.No bells ans whistles no leaks to the media.Speculation is the thing the media need to sell thier products.
Just watch sly for 10 mins we understand our sources say this player is going here there and everywhere. They know as much as we do.There is no way we have let Sergio leave without a replacement and we will elated or dissapointed in due course.

Not saying you’re wrong but I personally don’t give a shit about our image and how we’d be vilified. I just want the best players out there if we can...

So you think Haaland has dragged them down to 5th position all on his own (despite all of his goals) AND you're worried that trolls will say nasty things about us on social media?

Righty oh.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious or sarcastic. I hope you’re being sarcastic

WHO THE FUCK CARES ABOUT WHAT PEOPLE THINK ABOUT US OR OUR OWNERS? We should NEVER care, or we should probably do as much as we can to bother them as much as we can and get as much criticism as possible. FUCK THEM.

So Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, United, are all allowed to close this deal, but we’re supposed to be hesitant about what they’ll say about us? Lol. Stop.

Speaking as an international fan, one of many: we don’t care about the image of the club in England. (by the way, when people care so much image and what people will say, therapy can help)

I am in several groups of Brazilian and Argentinian City fans and hear a lot from American fans. They’re all excited with the prospect of Haaland coming to us. The large majority would pick him over Kane. That matters nothing, I know. But this club is an international institution. The way it reaches out in very specific ways to form bonds with us organized international fans is important to us and we respond to it massively.

And just to add something, I don’t think Kane is a particularly loved star with English fans in general. That’s an impression but if people disagree, feel free to say so

Shite coaching, Hummels is past it, keepers seem to be competing to see who can be benched more often, lots of injuries. Without Haaland they'd be in the bottom half.

Could look at it another way and all this posturing and movement in Spain yesterday was planned to throw the media off the scent whilst we quietly sit in the background doing our business with them off camera.
In truth no one has a clue what Is going on and we could all sit here to kingdom come debating it but ultimately City's top management are pretty clued up in the business world so think we can trust them to do the right thing for the club.
Only think we can be sure off is we won't see media pictures of Pep meeting Raiola at the airport with his begging bowl out unlike a certain spanish club!
Agree, City's management are clued up, it's because of that I can't see them becoming embroiled in a potential signing where money is the only factor, RM pay Bale 600k per week after tax, they will probably offer Haaland similar and we can't compete with that.
