Erling Haaland

Whilst I am not disagreeing with much of what you say, I cannot see him signing a 10 year deal with us. I think the longest contract ever signed was Messi signing for 9 years. There may be others, I am not sure.

But either way, the lad may want to come to City - I certainly hope he does - but we have to be realistic and understand that we are not the darling club that everyone wants to play for forever. We have the bluest of blue tinted specs on. Players are always interested in playing for Real or Barca or Bayern, or (dare I say it) United. I cannot see a 20 year old agreeing to tie his entire prime footballing years to us, straight off. I think it will be a 5 year deal, if we get him.
Saul signed a 10 year deal with Atletico but I agree with you that Haaland won’t agree to longer than a 5 year deal, nor should we sign him to a deal longer than that. It would be a huge risk for both sides.

its has to be long term maybe 5 years at first then options for another 3 to 5 years
we have to sign haaland and get it 100% water tight no loop holes and a buy out clause of £500million or more

the thing is the club can not lose him if we sign him and he smashes the premier league in his first 3 or 4 seasons
so like i just said maybe a 5 year deal with options for 3 or 5 more and a crazy buyout clause of £500million or more

we don't want another sane with munich ? so if we sign haaland it stops somebody trying to nick him for peanuts
but haaland is a blue and if city and pep want him why would he want to move elsewhere

Kun first came on good money with the promise of increases if he settled and was successful, the club were true to their word and consistently rewarded him with significant wage increases and contract extensions.

The same will apply to Little Alf, prove your worth and fulfill your obvious potential and he will not want for medals, money or satisfaction.

I was under the impression he was on 225,000 a week and stayed on that.

Please correct me if I’m wide of the mark but iirc the longest player contract allowed under the current system is 6 years but you can renew as often as you like though not for longer than 6 years at any juncture.
I’ve never heard of a 10 year player contract in Europe.
Not saying they haven’t ever happened or don’t happen elsewhere but not to my recollection.
Wasnt ederson given a 6 or 7 yr contract when he arrived? Guess its slightly different with goalkeepers however

Lewandowski first season at Dormund and the Bundesliga was the 2010/2011. He played 41 games and scored 9 goals. He was older than Haaland is now.

You cannot compare them.

Haaland had a very developed body already in a young age whereas Lewandowski was the smallest of his teams during the youth times and just was not "ripe" that early. Genetics! And in 2010/11 the first striker was Lucas Barrios and Lewy mainly played second striker/no. 10. Lewy is a player that is super professional - that worked on his body and his play very much to get where he is - he lives and eats very professionally - and actually even got better in the recent 3 years.

Yep. Saul still has 5 years left on his 9 year deal, and his form is in the shitter right now. Signing anymore than 5 years is a gigantic risk. The club can't sell if the player's form drops, there's also the risk where the player loses motivation to fight for a new contract.

Another example is Kepa, who still has 4 years left on his deal.

If/when Haaland signs, 5 years would be good. Alot can change in football in 5 years.
