Erling Haaland

Do you think these egos were hurt when new shiny toy Grealish walked in the door making more than all of them?

What I want to discover is which club has the player that is supposed to be scoring by far the most goals in the squad not making the most money. For instance, look at Chelsea. They brought in Lukaku who carries that expectation. He walked in to earn up to “£450,000-per-week when image rights and performance-related bonuses are taken into account” per The Athletic, “smashing their wage structure”. That is over £100k more than what Kante is making, who was previously the player making the most money over there. They didn’t have a player in that role before just like we don’t have now. It would literal and naturally be the same scenario
I think it depends what Grealish was offered. If it was less than KDB then no. If it was nearly twice what our highest earner was on then yes i think it would ruffle some feathers.

IMO People like to compare what they earn to others in their own companies not necessarilly what others earn outside their companies. I suspect its the same in football clubs, So i understand your point about Lukaku but i dont really agree with it.

I certainly think he needs to get the Foden and Palmer treatment next year, enough games to give him belief he can be counted upon.

Maybe someone like Bissouma for £30m next summer would be a very astute move for us?

Tielemans would be going into final year of his deal in the summer, different kind of player but good alternate option to Rodri. with 1 year left you'd think we could get him for 40 odd, particularly if Leicester have an off season.

As for Haaland’s wage demands, it is all driven by media speculation.
Erling Haaland currently earns €140,000 per week inclusive of bonus.
Thats around about £120,000 all in.

So any talk of £1m or £600,000 per week won’t happen at any new club.

Realistically a new club would be looking at starting around £350,000 per week, plus bonus. This then gives City and Haaland, room for future proofing, by increasing his earning year on year over the length of his contract.

Forget that thinking. Look at who is the agent and in what situation the player is. The other competitors in the no. 9 position as real centre forwards of that type are already (far) over 30. Mbappe is not in the same category as he actually has more the skills of a winger even if he often starts on the 9 - and he is Real Madrid bound (that is why Madrid is out of a Haaland transfer - they cannot do both). His release clause is about 75 m EUR - but his value without it is probably somewhat over 150 m EUR, more around 200 m EUR.

Raiola will cash in - and the player will, too. It is not about increasing his earning per year. He will get over the odds from the start whereever he goes next year.

Patrick Mahomes gets £800m over the next ten years. He's a franchise player, he's the player the rest look to. I'm pretty certain Kansas players aren't too fussed what he is earning.
Yeah but he's proved his worth, he's been in two Super Bowls, winning one, in four years.

I think the problem people have, well i do, is that it's a lot of money to pay straight off the bat, to someone who hasn't yet proved he can do it in the best leagues and in the biggest games.

I agree that Haaland is banging them in for fun, but it's in the Bundesliga!

Does anyone actually think Pep is going to risk playing Lavia + Gundogan in 60 games next season if Rodri does his ACL on September 1st?

The only realistic scenario for us not buying a defensive midfielder is Fernandinho repeats what he did last year and perks up in the second half of the season and impresses enough to stay on for a year.

Josh Wilson-Esbrand still has by far the easiest route into the first team.
frankly i find the line of argument of "what if rodri tears his ACL" not compelling enough of a reason to get someone like vlahovic ahead of haaland.

Maybe, but players who were top performers in that league who have left recently, have hardly reached that level since...
Jovic, Dembele, Werner, Havertz, Minamino, Thiago, Sancho, Andre Silva

Apologies about Minamino.

Sane is starting to play well so we'll see there, but Bellingham and Sancho adapted well when they went there.

Don't get me wrong i would luv Haaland and do think he would take us to another level.

My point is that people, regardless of profession, need to earn their money. If he comes in and starts banging them then i have no problem giving him what he wants.

We also got KDB from there. Dzeko and Kompany in the past too.

Why are posters getting stressed? Uby said it’s done in January and he got his info from 93.20blue.
This is as done as a done thing that lives at 10 done street in doneville...

How do you know Fernandinho will retire at the end of the season?
I don't, but he will be 37 and his contact was only for another year. If fern could go on for another season it would be great but time waits for nobody.

Are we ignoring his CL goals for some reason?

Who the fuck said anything about getting Vlahovic over Haaland because Rodri might get injured?
the implication in your post was that we can't spend all the transfer budget next summer on haaland because of the small chance that a player does an ACL.

500k is a lot of money, he'd be the top earner, but it's hardly something that we absolutely can't fathom or manage, i'm sorry. there is absolutely a deal to be made at that price.
