Erling Haaland

What idiotic reasoning. Has Aguero scored in every game he’s played in for Argentina?

The reason why “highlights of each game where he scored” get posted weekly is because he tends to score every fucking week.

You don’t understand football and can’t see his qualities and potential. We get it. Not sure why you feel hell bent on proving it so often in this thread.
I don't understand football because I'm not giddy about signing haaland, fucking grow up, as for being hell bent on anything to do with haaland, I've said I'm completely open minded about who we sign as long as that player is the right one, it may be haaland, it maybe someone else I don't care as long as they improve us

Grow up? You think Haaland not scoring in one match for a shit Norway team confirms that the “love in” for him is “embarrassing”.

As another posted said, it looks as though you’re too personally invested in this thread having made your previous statements and you have decided, for whatever reason, that this is the hill you’re happy to die on.

since it was brought up ... there are 2 iso vids on YT of Haaland vs Turkey, one is 1:19 and the other is :41 - both include ample footage of him in the world-changing T-shirt ... [learned he had a goal called back watching the 2nd video]

I'm more than happy to sign haaland if he's the right player for the team, as I said completely open minded ,nothing would give me greater pleasure than seeing haaland smash them in for us for the next ten years helping us dominate, but that goes for whoever we sign, as for being too invested, it's like we aren't allowed opinions on this thread, maybe you and a few others are a bit to invested in this thread?

My two penny worth on Haaland which I agree is not a lot of money to stake. I have only seen you tube snippets of his play and some goals and considering he is a 20 year old playing in a top European league I am impressed. He does not seem to be intimidated by anyone and his pace seems to frighten midfielders and defenders. His link up play, vision and awareness looks excellent for one so young. My worry would be that his bravery could attract heavy challenges which in turn may give him niggling injuries. If the people at City think he is a good fit for Peps way of playing then I will go along with them till proved wrong. As for Lukaku I think he also could be a useful addition at City once we decide to demolish the north stand and build the new wall.

It’s not your opinions on the player that grate, it’s the barbs at people that actually rate Haaland that usually grab my attention and the illogical reasoning that is used to have a go at them/him.

Haaland is the greatest striker to hit the scene in several decades at his age. Pound for pound and age for age, he’s without equal. That’s why it’s an odd player to go after. Fit my money it’s as bizarre as those that think Pep/KDB/Foden are over rated.

I caught some of the Turkey game and Norway were really poor.

They barely created a chance and must be a frustrating side to play in.

I do think people need to be a bit wary of this side of things. Particularly those who begrudge our current forwards for not scoring when there's no supply.

The thing with an out and out goal getter in a team like ours is, they'll only ever be involved at the last minute. In theory they could still do good work off the ball in terms of creating space and defensive work, but as far as build up play is concerned you'll often rarely see them. So when the team is struggling to create chances, having an out and out forward not contributing is only going to make things more difficult for the rest of the team.

This isn't an argument against Haaland, more against the general idea that we desperately need an out and out goalscorer. There WOULD be games where having a player like that is extremely beneficial, but there WOULD be games where it wouldn't.

Now in Haaland's case, he's such an extremely good goal getter that the positives outweigh the negatives by a landslide. Even if he were the worst fit in the world you'd still want him just for that goalscoring quality. But I think people need to prepare themselves for the reality that is sometimes he would be extremely frustrating and whatnot. Especially given his age.

If Pep sticks around long enough, he might be able to coach him into being something of a complete striker not too dissimilar to what Aguero was like back in 17/18, or in his earlier City days. So potential Haaland problems might disappear after not too long.

I get you rate him highly, I do too, I may of got a little mischievous, but when myself and others started getting flak I just carried on:) , for what it's worth sign haaland and I would be a happy clapper, I'm guilty of letting a certain poster getting under my skin and will try my hardest to refrain from trying to bait them

The thing I can’t get my head around when some people say Haaland wouldn’t fit in this team as his overall game isn’t good enough is that these same people have been watching Sergio Aguero for the last decade.

There’s an argument for Aguero being the greatest striker in the premier league era. Our success prior to this season would have been impossible without him. He’s been our marquee player of this era. But I fail to see what Sergio Aguero offers that Haaland does not? Aguero is not great at link up play - he’s not like a peak Suarez or Henry in that regard. His work rate improved under Pep but it’s not like he presses tirelessly all game. What he has been is a consistently ruthless & clinical finisher for us, someone who comes alive only in the last third, capable of scoring goals from nothing by himself and also being on the same wavelength as the creative players behind him and getting on the end of chances they create. I must be missing something in Aguero’s all round game that lead some posters on here to think that Haaland would not fit the system.

A lot of his goals come from counter attacks or breakaway, how would he go on when we're camped in the oppositions halve trying to break them down, I reckon he would be no different to any other centre forward who ever it is, we'd still struggle to score

What's your reasoning for that?
Because he has never once come out and said he wants to come to us whereas he has openly spoke about Real Madrid .look l want him at City as much as everyone else but I’m not gonna be gutted if he doesn’t arrive

He was once asked in a post-match interview about Madrid and answered with indifference

Do we not already have an equivalent player who potentially given an opportunity could be as good as, he is younger without the experience, Delap is as strong has as much ability scores, yes at a lower level but given a chance who knows, do we block his progress with this signing, just a question ?

Maybe, maybe not....the problem is we need a player next season and Delap is at least 18 months from being ready IMO.
