I don't think he valued Aguero at that point, not that he didn't value a top striker.

We don't sign a player of his ilk as a replacement and it'll be the worst business we've done since Bony.

We'll see. I hope we sign Haaland or Kane though - even though I think that we will not.
 
I think a lot of you don't really understand. Pep didn't play with a false 9 because he didn't have a top striker. He played the false 9 because it gave more control. Rodri,Gundo,Kevin was struggling to dominate and it lacked energy this is how the false 9 evolved.

To answer both of my rhetorical questions - we played without a dedicated striker, even in our most important matches, by choice. To me, this indicates that Pep does not value a dedicated striker as a must - and in fact - may prefer to play without one.

To me it indicates Pep doesn’t believe Jesus or Torres were/are good enough finishers to sacrifice another creative midfielder for.

I would hope that Pep and the board would look at games where we’ve missed hatfuls of good chances and believe that we need a world class finisher who would most definitely be worth a starting place over a midfielder trying to do a striker’s job.

I hope you're correct. I think that we'd be a better side with Haaland or Kane in our ranks.

He would be, but the fee it would take to land him in this summer is a little ludicrous. It doesn't seem to be Chelsea's or City's preferred way of building a squad and rightly so, because it would be a terrible use of resources and that's before we get to his potential wages, which would break our current wage structure. I'm not opposed to the player himself, he's as close to generational as he can get, but I'm not a fan of what it would take to land him.

I would get Haaland and let levy deal with chelsea which means kane will have to stay with spurs.

This guy shows up once every two weeks with the same points written in the same way, triggering people to respond with the same counterpoints every time. I have to believe he’s having a laugh.
They will insist on the “false nine” point every time the striker we do sign doesn’t score a goal in a game

Not convinced this 'London factor' really applies to Haaland mate, wasn't he pretty much born and raised in Leeds, Nottingham and Manchester ? Personally can't say I've known anyone hankering for the bright lights of London, other than my sister, and she's a fuckin idiot at times ;-).

There's one question we could ask Haaland which would be the biggest clue as to where he's seriously considering next, and it's simply 'do you like gravy' ?
If the answers yes, Chelsea are fucked, if the answer's no, we could be in trouble.
 
Hope this isn't a repeat of the Hazard situation where we're competing with Chelsea and their Champions League win is what secures them the signing.
