Are you saying Martin Blackburn is not reporting the truth?
I'm saying that most sports journalists are barely on nodding terms with the truth and that the vast majority are liars, they lie with impunity, almost pathologically in fact.

As for the journalist in question, I am not familiar with his work but I am more than happy to judge his worth as a human being based on the single fact that he works for The S*n. He is, in my opinion, a louse.

Its like shopping at he supermarket Harry Kane best before 2025, Erling best before 2033.. even if Erling has a sell by date of 2026, at least he has a value when sold..no brainer.
That’s a myth because we don’t buy players we lease their services and at the end of the contracted lease period they have no value to us whatsoever because they’re out of contract.
We write their value down annually because of that.
If we want to move them on during their contract period then we can only do it if they agree and if we want to extend their contract we can only do it if they agree.
They only ever agree if it’s to their financial advantage - and this guy has Raiola to manage that process.

He's a better person than you, in my opinion

Third way - he signs a new contract.

Mino will know what Real will likely pay next year. Could be 160m+, easy. Dortmund know that too.

If Dortmund want to sell this year, then Mino says, ending this contract is your idea - not ours. Pay us, big time.

So it makes sense that both sides protect their interests by making a deal.

Dortmund agree an extra 10m to Erling/Mino this year, 10m for signing, 20m on the agreed sale next year. In return, they agree to sell to Erling's preferred club, maybe tho they stipulate the bid must be within 10m of the highest offer on the table.

Mino now has the whole year to use that promise get Real to commit to a 50m signing bonus and fee. And salary. If he can show he's already on 300k p/w, it's better for him when he's negotiating with Real and others. And he's obviously more likely to get huge offers, when the COVID crunch is over and cash is flowing again. We know it's hit the Spanish clubs hardest.

Mino wants to wait until they are back in business. Also wants paying, and the upper hand in the deal with the next club. But he has this whole year to negotiate, with a cast iron guarantee that the deal can be done with Dortmund. Perfect position to be in.

Erling gets paid now, and next year, and gets his choice of club - within reason. He might well want that move to Real above all else, and that would have to wait. But his development would be well served by him staying another year at Dortmund.

Dortmund avoid having to pay Erling off and accept whatever bid there is in this depressed market this year. They can count on the sale, and know the incomings and outgoings NOW. Next summer, their position is stronger than this year - more bidders, with most cash. They also get another year out of Erling, whose price is likely to skyrocket.

I'm pretty sure this is what Dortmund do, when they hang on to players for an extra year. They make it work for them AND the player. And it allows them to plan ahead in a way most clubs can't.
Why would you go to all that trouble ,you've made a scenario up in your mind then juggled up a story to convince yourself, haha

You are right in the sense that I would not want to see him at Chelsea, it makes them massively stronger. If rumours are that we tried to get Kane last Christmas we may still be after him as the only striker. To think we could have got Harland a season ago for 30 odd million is madness. It’s like trying to buy a plate of food that you desperately need as your going to starve but you have to pay with the large wad of cash you’ve put aside for several meals to be paid for next week!

The trouble we have Chelsea is that if they want the player they will pay what is needed whereas we will to a ceiling and pull out which is gonna be a very difficult task considering most top strikers will cost £90-150 million . This will either a great transfer window or the worst on record .

If we sign no one, we still have the best squad in the PL. No fucks given.

I appreciate it was a simplistic analogy. However. Do you lease a player etc. knowing that at the end of the lease he has no value, or do you go for the option to actually sell the player within the lease period whereby you retain a value, and possibly profit from the lease. With a 5 year contract for Kane or Haaland, Kane in say 4 years will be worth little, but Haaland could be worth considerable sums.City tend to keep their players in the long term, and the point I was trying to make was that 12 years of Haaland is more value than 5 years of Kane for the same price.

Not buying Eden Hazard was a big mistake at the time IMHO

Not buying Haaland with his family links to our club would be much worse considering he has so much potential

Would we make the same mistake twice? I’d consider it madness to do so….

Need to freshen things up as players that keep winning titles start to lose the Hunger and drop of the pace which is what happened the year before. We need to bring players in and replace players to keep evolving .

Dortmund are going to sell Sancho and Haaland? Having qualified against all expectation for the CL? No way on God's earth.
Sorry lads, it's Kane (or nothing very much).

(I'd be very happy with Kane. He and Sterling were starting to understand each other's game nicely in the latter stages of the Euros. Will the club stump up north of 100 million, though? Doubt it very much. Levy is prepared to have an unhappy player on his hands. That's Levy. I'm presuming that Harry Kane will not kick his club in the bollocks by going to Chelsea, even if they were prepared to offer the money).

Don't get me wrong, I hope that we sign a few but I'm not overly concerned if we don't. There's people posting shit like if we don't get a striker we are doomed. I'm quite relaxed about it.

It’s just that we might fall into the trap the dippers did. Yes the dippers had injuries but teams worked out how to beat them. Same thing will happen to us if we go with the false 9 teams will work it out. Chelsea did, if teams follow Chelsea’s game plan against us they win. It’s why if we bring a striker we can play a new formation which teams will have to deal with a new threat. Also last season Gundogan had the season of his life for goal scoring which helped us a lot.

I’m pretty sure we will but it isn’t Haaland or Kane or we’re doomed either.

The only other striker where there was multiple reports was Darwin Nunez that has now gone quiet. He could pop up again as an alternative
