After an incredible season and after the disappointment of the Champions League final, I fully expected the club to go heavy in the transfer market, to continue to dominate domestically and to complete the dream of becoming European Champions.I don’t have the energy to respond to the other replies, but I think you get the point. It’s like I’ve read people say a few times, we should be a bit like Chelsea in that we don’t care about what people say with regards to money — or PSG for that matter. Instead, I get the feeling that even small comments by Klopp seem to bother us. That way it’s going to be tough down the line.
It seems sometimes that we are trying to act like Bayern when the environment around us does not allow for this attitude of moral superiority.
And to be fair, I think Khaldoon meant to be ambitious this summer, if you look at his interview months ago. Just didn’t have the planning and attitude to do so - yet
This summer was the perfect time to do it. A vast majority of clubs struggling and unable to compete financially.
We started well with the acquisition of Grealish, somewhat of a luxury with the players we have already, but a player with the ability to become a major star.
But today with the window about to close, we have failed to bring in a striker that the club needs so badly, and if we were to lose Bernardo and Laporte, in my opinion we have gone backwards.
