In the past though there has been a bidding war for such players which we are reluctant to get drawn into.
This is different, apparently we know the fee, the agent fees, the wages and are willing to pay them. All we want as far as I can see is an early decision that Haaland wants to come. With the rease clause so low it wouldn’t be a departure from how we operate.
What would be, and I don’t think we’d allow ourselves to be dragged into, is if we think we know the figures and are happy with them and Haaland and or his team start asking for extras or changing the figures. Then I think we’d walk away.
However I’m not sure other teams looking at him are in a position to be pulled into out bidding us either, or offering better than we offer on and off the pitch.
