I wonder how his signing will be portrayed in the media?

a) A bargain £63m for one of the best strikers and hottest prospects in football.
b) £300m deal when factoring in fees, wages, blah blah blah. City splashing crazy money again.
Already been on Talksport this morning as a 500 million pound deal!

They even emphasized the 63 million fee, as though that's a lot of money for a player of his quality

Fuck em boys. Someone pour the pina coladas

Thought it was £500m?
"How many nurses could have been paid for with that, don't City care that people are dying? Call in now on 0898..."

It's always going to be b) because that's where the clicks lie - but it's not just City.

The Alexis Sanchez deal to United could have been described as a bargain - swapping one of the best players in the PL with a player who had been poor, but that got the b) treatment too.

There were even multiple articles at the time linking it to the wages of the casual staff at United.

The list of footballers who cost £63m or more is hilarious. Lemar, James Rodriguez, Osimhen, Arthur, L. Hernandez, Kepa, N. Pepé, Lukaku twice, Maguire, Higuain, Hazard, Pogba, Dembele, Felix, Griezmann and Coutinho.
