Smashing post Mr Ono. Cap certainly doffed in your direction for that one.

Please expand....Mancini's team has beaten Chelsea on the last 3 occasions in the league.

Didnt we beat Arsenal at our place last year in the league and cup and draw away?
Hughes was the manager when we beat Arsenal in the league (twice) and the Carling Cup scoring 10 goals in the process. Mancini's team hasn't managed a single goal against Arsenal, Everton, Spurs or the rags in the league in 8 games.

When he starts comparing Mancini with Hughes the whole thing just falls on its arse. Hughes has won and will win nothing as manager Mancini has the medals to back him up.

No it doesn't. The past doesnt matter a jot.

Both have been manager at Manchester City and spent a fucking fortune.

It is fair enough to compare their records. Mancini spent money to improve Hughes's squad to it would be difficult to argue that his results should be better than Hughes's.

If the past doesn't matter at all then why not appoint a passerby as the manager and give him a fortune to spend.According to your logic , the results would be the same.

he doesn't have standards when it comes to Mancini bashing.

Insightful, well thought out counter arguments there, chaps.

I did - I countered your bollocks that Mancini had given up as he had sat down, using your paragon of genius (fergie) as an example - you simply ignored it. As you tend to when you make a spurious remark that is put down.

I'm a confirmed Mancini 'inner' so wanted to make my position clear before I started.

I've always thought Mancini will lead us forward, but have to admit, I do not know how far.

The games vs Liverpool and Chelsea this season show us how good we can be. The games against Blackpool and Newcastle show we can play poorly yet still win. However, the defeats against Wolves, West Brom and Sunderland - plus the mad error against Blackburn amply demonstrate, that in spite of spending significant amounts of cash, we are very much work in progress still.

The amount of stories 'leaked' or made up by the press is astonishing which feeds our paranoia. Then there's the style of football we play. Lots of us feel it is unnecessarily negative, others enjoy the tactical battle. We are certainly better defensively and we keep the ball very well. But that is not enough for a fan base used to seeing the attacking flair of Paul Walsh, David White, Peter Barnes, Mike Summerbee, Ali Benarbia, Eyal Berkovic etc.

We've got David Silva who can do this for us in spades. We've got defensive midfielders (really?) to protect the back four. What we're missing is a box to box, balls out aggressive midfielder. We have Johnson already at the club who can do this - but is he ever gonna get back and play, let alone to the level he was previously? So we need to buy one, but who could we realistically get?

My final point is that for most of us, we do not know what success looks or feels like. The level of expectation has been cranked up to a Spinal Tap 11 and with that comes the fear of failure. What the others will say if we fail; look at all that money; still a comedy club; another false dawn.

I don't believe we'll fail. I still like Mancini, I still think we will succeed with him but do question how he has us playing sometimes. But I do think, in spite of targets or trajectories, success will perhaps take a little longer than we are currently demanding.

Completely and utterly agree with you in regard to the box to box midfielder but I thought Ya Ya had been signed to fill this role. We all know what role he fulfilled for Barca but he was more box-to-box than that in his earlier days.

If we did buy him to do that, we need to have a rethink because he can't do it for 90 minutes.

I love Johnno but we can't pin our hopes on him so I think Mancini has identified Henderson as the one to fill this gap. Don't let the England game sully your views of him, he's an excellent player.

theres so much wrong with that article, anyone genuinly agreeing with that shite shouldn't even try and claim to be behind the club. more media lies, it's seriously getting boring now.

I agree with most of it. Are you telling me I am not a true fan?

He is saying you are not necessrily behind the club. I don't sit with you, so have no idea what you are like at matches. I know this place would be less gloomy if you changed your record.

That's an interesting stat. It does miss out Chelsea, who we've had great success against, but the stat is important and one Mancini must improve on to take us near the top.

DD,do you think things will improve on the pitch when the dreggs of Hughes team are eventually peddled form the club in January and in the close season?

Im just picking up on your point about wether Mancini can embrace the english culture as you call it.

We all know who the players are who he doesnt rate (probably some we dont know about aswell).I firmly believe football on the pitch will improve drastically once he has won the dressing room war.

No. Despite what he used to put out, Hughes inherited a decent squad and made it a good one. He didn't get them playing to the best of their ability but that's not what you're asking. Why is it only MAnchester City fans who believe that a new manager need a who new squad? There is some dead wood which needs to go - Vieira, Jo, RSC for a start. I would shed tears if Adebayor, Bridge, Lescott or Zabaleta went either.

But I'm not for one minute buying the fact that Mancini's failings are down to his players. It's his job to motivate and organise them. It doesn't matter who bought them.

Yaya's a bit of an odd one for me. His performance against Chelsea was superb yet he hasn't (in my opinion anyway) replicated that. I'm 100% behind him when he plays, I just have some doubts over him. He looks like he's piled on a shit load of weight and looks far from fit? Maybe I'm being hypercritical; I don't know?

He certainly doesn't seem able to do the box to box job for us for 90 mins but I don't know if he was brought in to do that for us. It's so easy to say "we need a young Steven Gerrard type of player" and I promised myself I wouldn't say that as I can't think of any off the top of my head (not seen enough of Henderson to comment), but there, I've broke my promise!
