Ethiopian airline crash

Boeing have a real problem here. It's extremely hard for an aircraft to recover a reputation after being grounded over safety issues, even if it doesn't turn out to be directly liable. The DC10 had that particular problem.

Just read a young lad (25) from up the road from me was on the flight, really sad news

Just seen this this evening. I didn't know Sam but I am friends with his father, albeit 'virtually' via social media/poker forum.

I think I'm right in saying his son did a lot of charity and humanitarian work, possibly why he was over that way on that flight. Just an awful tragedy for all involved.

Yes mate he did,and was on some mission with his charity work I've since read, don't know him or his family personally,as it's a few miles away from where I live, but brings it home when you think that far away in the world, and a kid loses his life from up the road, bloody tragic.

From what I have read, and I stand to be corrected. With the new engines being moved forward and upwards on the wing and the extended forward section, the plane is now not as stable as it was, it can stall much more easily. The new anti-stall system is designed to stop the plane approaching the stall condition caused by the tendancy to get into a stall naturally. This sounds to me like Boeing are trying to hide a design flaw by a software programme. Perhaps @ChicagoBlue can comment on these reports??

Is this the young lad from Preston? Proper fucking sad that. RIP mate. Sounds like a caring lad. Always the good ones

Just has the worst flying experience of my life today. Absolutely horrendous and truly scary turbulence flying into nice. Landing aborted just as he was about to touch down. Nice airport then closed due to high winds and then landing in Genoa and then having another go which was equally horrific two hours later. Turbulence coming over the mountains was by far the worst I have ever encountered and went on almost solidly for twenty minutes. The air hostess said it was the worst flight she has been on. Genuinely think I am getting the train back. Still in a bit of shock - was saying my prayers thinking I was a goner earlier today. Horrendous and I am still shaking.

Doesn’t sound very pleasant I have to say!
