Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

I might not know the ins and outs but i think anyone can see the atmosphere hasn't changed one bit since you lot came on the scene.
From my perspective (correct me if I'm wrong) is that you haven't discussed much of anything with the club at all, you've presented ideas and been told what you can and can't do. To be honest a bit of pushback wouldn't be such a bad thing, people are likely to let things slide more than you think, it's just a balancing act between that and not getting banned. Might be hard but it can be done imo
You don't have a clue what you're on about.

1 - I'm one of the older ones in 1894 and I'm 28. Some of the guys are older but they have the experience needed for proper dialogue with the club and knowledge of our fanbase further back than the last two decades. We also have a membership that runs into the thousands, so I'm not sure why you're generalising that all of us are old?

2 - We've had constant dialogue with the club for the best part of a decade.

3 - We were involved in the £20s plenty campaign that resulted in a £30 cap on away tickets.

4 - We've been involved in the implementation of rail-seating in England and ensured City were one of the first clubs to utilise it.

5 - We organised the singing section in 115 which is the most consistently vocal part of the stadium.

6 - We were involved in organising the bus welcomes over the last few years.

7 - We had been demanding proper fan engagement with the club for years (this is still ongoing) but now we have City Matters which is a start.

8 - We've organised dozens of singing sections for cup games and finals.

9 - We were the only group of fans that planned a display against UEFA. We had the banner inside the ground ready to go against Madrid - some of us (myself included) probably would have been banned in the aftermath but were willing to risk it. We have also produced numerous other anti-UEFA displays that weren't cleared (because UEFA control what we can/can't do in their competitions).

10 - We supported one of our members who was threatened with a ban for bringing an anti-var poster into the ground - the next home game there were around 200 of these posters in 115.

11 - There are more changes that will be happening in the South Stand over the next few weeks that we've requested which should help the atmosphere (I can't go into this in more detail right now).

12 - We organised a protest about ticket prices for our quarter-final against PSG a few years ago - the semi-final vs Madrid was cheaper to attend as a direct result.

13 - We have raised tens of thousands of £s for charities. We've raised awareness for fan causes. We've supported our fellow fans after incidents abroad (such as collating information from fans affected by the crush at the San Siro a few years ago and reporting to relevant authorities/Reporting police brutality in the Bernabeu to authorities/requesting support from City for blues who got fucked over in Moscow a few years ago). We also represent City fans at numerous fan gatherings (The FSA, Fans Europe, meetings in Westminster, we orchestrated with other big 6 fan groups about the ESL etc).

These are just a few things I can think of off the top of my head. I've probably spent thousands of hours on trying to improve the atmosphere and 'matchday experience' at City. But by all means mate, you tell me and the other lads who've gone above and beyond how to do it properly. Or, give your head a wobble, realise that 1894 and it's members are far from the problem, and try to be constructive.

Too much negativity. It's been a bit quiet the last couple of games. Those of us there tonight try and do something about it. We have a fantastic team, beautiful football, kids are breaking through to the first team finally and loads of youngsters whose parents weren't blues are wearing City shirts and supporting our club. We have to find a way to get new blood into the ground. The price of a ticket is one thing, probably due to FFP meaning the club are reluctant to subsidise them. It's usually pretty good atmosphere when we play lower league clubs and the prices are low and on open sale. I always take people who aren't regulars.

I've not said that they can't return tickets. Seeing as tickets can still be bought through agency websites on the day of a game for collection at an arranged collection point, I think you'll find that they don't. If any do, they certainly don't do so in time for the club to sell them cheaply to 'walk-ups'.

I know you're trying your best to discredit (what you see as potentially negative) comments about the club ticketing etc, but I really don't see why you have to adopt such a pompous tone in your response.
I’m no fan of the club’s ticketing. I don’t like ticket agencies or touts but the former seem to have a role in helping to sell hard to shift to tickets.

i don’t know why people obsess about a few rows of empty seats. We are going through a pandemic and tonight’s crowd could be above 50k. That’s not too shabby IMHO.

I'm in 115 and see every week the amount of time and effort you guys put in.

What you do is great and you don't deserve to be moaned at by miserable wankers who don't know what they're talking about.

Top blues the 1894 group.

The youth, you mean like you?

Really? You haven't got a clue! You don't know what 1894 have discussed with the club over the years. What we've tried to do to improve the atmosphere at the Etihad. The amount of knock backs we've had. You think 1894 or any 'youth fan group' at City can just rock up at the Etihad doors and demand this and that from the club to improve the atmosphere, and the club will just say OK, go for it lads!

Go on then, tell me what you'd do, and how you'd get the club to go along with your ideas. After I've stopped laughing, I'll give you a reality check.
He's utterly clueless. I wouldn't mind but even with those knock backs, we've still been allowed to get things through that fans of other Premier League clubs haven't. Plus we don't always toe the party line. There was that time that Palace's much lauded Ultras were told to remove a banner from the Holmesdale End as it was blocking the view of a Sky cameraman so they shat themselves and did as they were told. Yet when we were asked by UEFA to not drop a banner from tier 2 ahead of a CL game against Steaua Bucharest because it was obscuring their shitty Champions League logo we just ignored the fuckers and did it anyway.

The fact is families cannot afford half a weeks wages on 90 minutes of football,we dont have 25000 extra fans every week happy to pay it for their once a season treat. Our owners dont get our fanbase, never have and never will. I have accepted the club are only interested in pounds and pence, these discussions have been going on for years.

well said, some very good points.

none of what the previous post said made any sense or had an element of truth in it at all.

Don't get me wrong Tim, I'm not bothered about numbers attending any games. It wouldn't be an issue for anyone if we didn't have all-seater stadia in the PL.
People get too hung up on seeing empty seats on TV when they should be concentrating on the football.
As I've said earlier, I couldn't give a toss how many people attend. The matchday ticket prices are of more concern for most people, but the score is all that matters at the end of the day.
I too expect that the official attendance tonight will be over 50k. Whether or not they all actually turn up is another matter.
