The fact is families cannot afford half a weeks wages on 90 minutes of football,we dont have 25000 extra fans every week happy to pay it for their once a season treat. Our owners dont get our fanbase, never have and never will. I have accepted the club are only interested in pounds and pence, these discussions have been going on for years.
I totally agree with this, our owners for all the good they have done, and they have done loads, the one thing they don't get or understand is our fan base.
We are not the scum or the dippers who have a global audience and a fan base to match, and I doubt we ever will, no matter what we achieve on the field, the constant negative reporting on our club has had a huge affect on our ability to attract new die hard fans.
Unfortunately I won't be at the Etihad this evening, at the start of the season both me and my son tried to purchase season tickets, but due to the amount of tickets that the club released this wasn't possible, people deferring etc.
We then went for the other more expensive option, £35 membership and we chose and paid for 10 of the more attractive fixtures at an average of £50 per game, we also went to all 3 champions league games plus the Wolves game which wasn't in our initial 10 games, so we've spent approximately £685 each which we weren't allowed to spread over the duration of the season.
Tonight's game, as much as I would like to attend is a cost too far, I fully understand that we are a business, but I have to draw the line somewhere, if £30 is enough for away supporters why not the home fans.
