Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

Leeds were very vocal to start with and that generated a fitting response from us, anybody that doesn't believe having away fans close by to the singing section matters need only see tonight as proof it absolutely does. Players on the pitch helped us silence them very quickly.

I'm right in the middle of it so I'm always sceptical of how loud we actually are but usual vocal sections were good tonight I felt.

fair play to Leeds fans they were good but this is their first season in the Premier league with fans for almost an entire generation, teams that are experiencing it for the first time are always loud for a season or two before the novelty wears off and they only get up for the bigger games, they weren't special in that respect.

not sure I agree with your first point. Having the away fans next to our singing sections has made little to no difference over the years, other then the odd game. I’d much rather have a proper home end. Can’t complain about last night though.

I’m stuck at home with Covid (I’ve said a few times sorry) and bored so been monitoring it today.

Genuinely looks like we were at 51,000 and sold 2000 more in the space of 4 hours since they dropped the price.

At lunch time every block was open, now loads have gone. Most had 50+ seats in them and now most have under 10.

This is because you can now get £25 and £30 tickets. If they’d have priced this at £30-£40 from the start it’d be a sell out.

This is concrete evidence for me it’s a pricing issue and not a lack of available fans.
I can explain that one for you ,we had a ticket for sale on the ticket exchange on Saturday ,there were over a thousand left in level one,
Approx 3 hours before kick off city pulled all the exchange tickets off sale and kept their own unsold tickets on sale it dropped to a few hundred

That’s gone rapidly since the prices dropped. If the planner is accurate it could be under half of that now.

It’s as if there’s 2000 City fans just waiting for price drop last min to attend.
They pull the exchange tickets a few hours before kick off

Pre match a chap and his young son sat next to me. I asked him if he was in the right seats and after checking he moved away by two seats. He was from Belfast and was a Leeds fan who gets across about six times a year to watch them. I told him he would be OK as long as he didn’t make it too obvious.

He got on well with those around him and when he left before our seventh goal he got a few handshakes and a fair bit of banter. A nice man, but what a chastening experience.
