Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

Liked the atmosphere yesterday even when we was losing there was still some singing going on in the south stand

YNWA isn’t even a liverpool song. As is befitting of that club, they stole it and claim it as theirs. Loads of clubs sing it. Meh.

West Ham sound ridiculous. A load of east end ‘pwoppa geezers’ singing a nursery rhyme about blowing bubbles? Lol.

I literally have no idea what Leeds sing. Is it about farming or how much they dislike Lancashire?
Disagree. It's gets the atmosphere going and creates a sense of togetherness, something we sadly lack.

The atmosphere on the road outside after the game was hostile as fuck last night........ fights all over breaking out and Spurs gobbing off to fuck. Why the police let them out same time as us I have no idea.

In 204 some old timer who I haven’t seen all season took offence to me swearing so I firmly but in a non confrontational way tell this guy that it’s a football match not a tea party. Some clown who heads to the bar on 33 mins every week leapt to his defence despite the fact that I was the one sat down with this old dude stood up aggressively shouting at me. Having been banned before I suggested to this clown that we go and discuss it on the ramp so as to avoid any repercussions. This infuriated him (but obviously not quite enough to come outside) so his ranting and raving continues and then various people are stood up shouting leave it leave it etc.

So all this passion and shouting because I’d used a few choice swear words (at spurs players and officials) when normally none of those involved show any passion or make any noise at all. Certain sections of our fan base are weird and quite frankly past their sell by date.

I’ve been going to city matches home and away for 45 years and never once heard anyone taken to task by anyone else for swearing. Were you swearing at our own players by any chance?

No. He initially took offence at me telling Højbjerg he was a diving **** and when I used the same expletive at Taylor a few mins later he’d had enough.

Just watched the full game back (and I thought the same at the time on the day)…

The team started very slowly and allowed Spurs to get a bit of confidence as the pace of the game was how they wanted it. But the atmosphere to start the game was fucking none existent, you could hear a pin drop.

City grew into the game and the atmosphere got much better. But then the second half was the same as the first: teams came out and you could hear a pin drop again to start the half just as we’d started playing well and looking the more likely to go on to win after the end of the first half.

Considering Spurs and Leeds are held in around the same regard by our fanbase, the difference in the atmospheres in the two games were stark. Right from the first kick off against Leeds the atmosphere was hostile and we were bang at it. I don’t think we could have made Spurs feel more welcome and comfortable if we tried.
