Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

It's probably been said elsewhere, but it was noticeable how many Madrid fans were still in the stadium on minute 89, needing 2 goals to just level the tie. If that was the Ethihad the place would have been 35% empty by then, not having a go, or repeating the usual Scouser insults, but we can't deny that. What I do know is that after every major disappointment the atmosphere at our next game is always really good, so dig in and get behind the team, we're better supporters in adversity than in success. People leave games early for all kinds of reasons, but if Newcastle are a goal ahead with a minute to go on Sunday, maybe pause for a minute and think of what happened on Wednesday before leaving. Roar the lads on to the end, try to stay if you can, we can bring this home, but tired legs and disappointed players will need us more than ever on Sunday.

I thought the atmosphere got to the lads towards the end. We could really do with the North Stand expansion for games like this. Flood it with cheap season tickets.

Thought the very same thing! If we’d have been a goal down you’d be able to make out the ‘CITY’ in the seats opposite the camera!

Totally agree. North Stand - certainly Level 1 - can produce a much better atmosphere than it gets credit for. Hopefully the new Silver option will help with this.

You are having a go and insulting our fans needlessly.

So your assertion is that “we can’t deny that” the “Ethihad “ would’ve been 35% (made up stat) empty in a similar situation. Jesus where do I start to pick that nonsensical sentence apart.

Where’s your evidence based on similar situations in similar games ?

Plenty of Madrid left early mate...............it's not just us. Leaving early will never stop and has always happened.

AT Wembley V Gillingham people abandoned us and fucked off same V QPR and most clambered to come back in.

Do NOT leave early (if you can possibly help it) !!!! Especially if we are losing.

The trouble with early leavers is it’s contagious and is now completely out of control.

What started as a trickle is now thousands every game. Compare the final minutes of games 10 years to now. It’s embarrassing.

I’ve heard 101 excuses on different threads. My toes curl when we are a couple of goals + up and they put up 5 mins of injury time as it means an empty stadium when the whistle goes. Feel sorry for the players.

Too late to do anything about it now. Together with the absolutely dreadful atmosphere at 95% of our home games, how did it possibly get to the state it is now.

Agreed. Obviously it would have been 29.3% empty. Not 35% empty. He clearly just made that bit up.
