Etihad Atmosphere - 2021/22

Some of the Main Stand moaners from Maine Road have never gone away. To be fair there is always a hard core of people who will never be happy...even if they won the lottery. Slagging off Silva is as extreme as it gets though!
To this day it's the most inexplicable thing I've ever heard. He sarcastically applauded him when he got subbed. I assume that bloke talks about him as fondly as everyone does, but weird stuff. Matched only by the time I sat in front of someone who was fuming every time the ball went back to Ederson, screamed "get it forward for the whole game".

I got moved from SS3 to 115 last night. I really enjoyed it, good atmosphere down there, the bars are far better, I actually managed to get a pint at half time!! Great night all round.
The bars aren't normally like that lol.

Usually people in SSL3 say how bad the atmosphere, I'd say SSL1 was quiet compared to normal last night. It's the best section for atmosphere in the ground IMO.

Some think this is s new thing, it really isn't. Main Road was notorious for it. Remember the main stand moaners, it's nothing new. Just shake your head at them smile and enjoy yourself. We are living in a golden era for City fans.
Nope, it's been around as long as I remember. GMR in the car after games, win, lose or draw, would be the same. I don't think it's unique to City, either. I just think some football fans only know how to watch a game through moaning and complaining, so when a team doesn't give you much to moan about, like modern City, they don't know where to channel it.

Level one concourses are far better than those on two or three, which are way too cramped and shite.

it takes my phone a few seconds too. Just when I think there is something up it goes green. I think the bottleneck though are the personal checks. There are two queues. One to get past the security queues and a second mine one to get through the turnstile. The security q was much bigger than the turnstile queue. Stagecoach seem to have reduced the number of football specials to the game from town. I just got the usual stopping service and it was fine last night because traffic was lighter than usual.

It's both. There should be checks, but even if there were no checks whatsoever there was still then queue of at least 10 minutes just to get through the turnstile for me last night, after passing security. And that's wholly on the shambolic electronic ticketing farce.

I agree with a lot of people on here in that as supporters we are an absolute afterthought and this perfectly captures it for me.

All the while we pay through the nose and our attendance is taken for granted. They can't give some of the tickets away to the fair weathers and bangwagoners for the lower profile games, but they clearly take our attendance for granted.

As a business, in terms of ingratiating yourself to your core market, the club are fucking clueless, let's have it right.

It's only because we're not a conventional business, and that we're dyed in the wool attendees via the unique context of being football supporters, that the club get away with this shite. A conventional business would really suffer treating their "customers" like this, they'd lose them in their droves.

It's ironic as well because that's the way City seem to view us nowadays, just as "customers", but while still having an understanding that they have that unique leverage of supporter loyalty, so they can get away with it.

Genuinely leaves a bitter taste in the mouth tbh. Think it captures the disconnect with the club and the core support in microcosm.

An excellent post.

So called 'elite' PL clubs have moved so far away from the traditional fan base, they've lost touch with the reality of being a working class supporter.

We're an underclass in the eyes of City's hierarchy. They'll gradually sideline the traditional fan.

Anyone remember the "prawn sandwich brigade" and lack of atmosphere, and how Roy Keane called them out.

That was a decade ago. Football is like that. Its getting posher and posher.

Terraces with cheap and controlled entry would massively improve things for everyone. We'll never get it back though :(
