Etihad Atmosphere - 2022/23

First paragraph, poor attempt at humour although with a kernel of truth in there I think particularly with regard to the context.

You categorically state in post 1067 that to paraphrase you, dippers “to a man stay until the final whistle and applaud the team off every home game”

That absolutely 100% nailed on isn’t true. Whenever I watch them on telly I catch sight of people leaving the stands towards the end of games. Why do you make such a point of insisting it is true when you’ve no way of knowing unless you’re there every home game. Why needlessly and mistakenly big up those feral scumbags ?
Of course Liverpool have some people leaving early. Every ground does. But the overwhelming majority do stay until the end. It's the same at Leeds and Brentford to name another 2 PL clubs. There certainly isn't a mass exedous like there is at the Etihad.

Right so you’ve downgraded “to a man” to “overwhelming majority”

Basically mate you’re making it up, you know it and I know it.

You’re parroting one of the media myths about anfield without any actual evidence to back it up. Of course they were gonna stay to the end last week, the small time cunts were celebrating a victory in their cup final - they don’t do that every week or even most weeks.

One thing that has become more noticeable is that ss3 is the area that gets the rest of the ground going and is often the loudest part of the etihad.

South stand level 1 doesn’t seem to create enough noise, consistent noise or sing many of the songs others join in with.

We could do with starting again and creating a proper home end with the expansion. Failing that we could put rail seating at the back of ss3 and have it there
I think it is more to do with for some reason ss1 does not travel well up into ss3.
Agree though ss3 has been great so far this season bar an average day yesterday.

It's not a myth.

They stayed to a man against us. They will do that for every big game. If you're going to pull me up because some people leave early, good try. Just be honest and admit it through gritted teeth that the vast majority, the overwhelming majority, and the KOP do stay until the end and applaud the Liverpool team.

Apart from that one compliment, which is the the truth, I have absolutely no time for Liverpool fans or the over hyped praise of their support by the media.

Watching Spurs v Newcastle. Spurs support is sh*t even with the KOP behind the goal that holds 17.500 seats.

Spurs 0 - Newcastle 2.

Haha so it’s not “every home game” anymore it’s “every big game”

You’re digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole and all for the bizarre purpose of praising those fucking vermin.

Strange comments from you tbh

Truth is, the issue of fans leaving early isn't unique to City. It's commonplace at every English stadium. Watch any Premier League game and you see fans leaving early. Expensive tickets, thoughtless, changeable kick-off times, and commonplace transport difficulties have made the UK fan’s condition that much trickier.

Germany have cheap tickets and integrated transport systems as well as planned and organised things to help the atmosphere.
We’ve got a lot of very devoted fans for whom a game is no longer an event but a ritual like church. On a game per game basis on a senior citizens discount theyre not paying so much, but at the other end of the scale high match day prices and the modern ticket buying process excludes large groups of young men and women who will sit together and make a noise which supports those individuals and families and mates who would get vocal and stay vocal if they didn’t feel alone in it. Plus you can’t take your beer in with you.

We are both scarred by the past and spoiled by the present in that we get anxious if we haven’t scored in ten minutes, at which point you will hear a nervous ‘c’mon City’! That said atmospheres are often best when we have to stage a comeback rather than grind out a win like yesterday when the score line flattered us. So I’d say there are factors that are about the game but also factors unique to us. There is no reason why we couldn’t have a whole stadium singalong to Blue Moon before and after every game to create a mood though, and not the Ricky Hatton version, but the way we used to croon it. We shouldn’t beat ourselves up though. City fans are the best.
