OK folks, who wants to take me up on a 50p wager that ASDA will close and the vacant site will be used as part of the Joint Venture?

Add your name on this thread if you fancy helping me pay for my season ticket.............

Come on Andy, spill the beans.

No beans to spill other than my own, confirmed belief (that is backed up by snippets I'm hearing) that this will happen.

I know others have/had a contrary position and belief and not all of us can be right on this one.

the latest going round is its next that are moving out and asda taking their space, so increasing their footprint
but if your snippets say otherwise....

The problem of conflicting snippets :-(

Unless of course we decide to develop "ASDA World" as part of the joint venture around the collar site, like a poor mans "Ferrari World"

Ironically they could both be right, dependent upon whether you take a short or medium view. If I were to favour one position it would be Asda disappearing in the medium term. I'd find it difficult to understand why they would want to take over the floorspace of the adjoining Next store as the existing Asda floorplate isn't exactly small. Unless of course they were thinking of expanding the existing portfolio to include something like furniture etc. Not likely I would have thought.

Thats what has been 'promoted' in the snippets.

They will move but not immediately and perhaps only once an alternative store is in place for a transition.

Fucks sake, I need to read through this thread for my dissertation work. Before I start the mammoth task, the thread hasn't been derailed in the middle for a good 50 pages like most mammoth threads, has it?

Marty Edelman: another City employee quietly revolutionising the club and city, rather than 'vuvuzela'ing' off from the rooftop. I think he was employed by the club pre ADUG, so I guess shows how far (and in what direction) the club and MCC were hoping to take.

This story is gathering pace now (Giddy Osbourne has already chipped in). Without digging too far, I'm not sure whether this project/s include/s the 'postponed' Holt Town?
Although I'm looking forward to hearing about the Collar Site/Leisure proposals, the Campus Academy and community projects are not doing the image of the club any harm at all [/understatment].
That's the way to do investment folks...

Martin Edelman is not another City employee, he's a Non-Executive Director appointed to the board post the take-over

Martin Edelman,

Martin Edelman was appointed to the Board on 23 September 2008. He was a Director of Cendant Corporation from 1997-2006 and was a Director of HFS from November 1993 until December 1997. He has been Of Counsel to Paul Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a New York City law firm, since June 2000 and currently serves as Director of the Avis Budget Group.

Martin Edelman specializes in international real estate transactions involving large, complex negotiations, acquisitions, dispositions and financing. He has broad international experience in all asset classes, having done extensive work in Europe, Mexico, Brazil, Canada, Japan, China and the Middle East. Mr. Edelman is a director of Avis/Budget Corp., Capital Trust, and Ashford Hospitality Trust. He is a senior advisor to Mubadala, the strategic investment vehicle of the government of Abu Dhabi, and a member of the board of Aldar Property Group. Mr. Edelman was one of the original lawyers responsible for bringing the Intrepid to New York and continues to serve on the Intrepid Board as Vice-Chairman and on the Boards of Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Fisher House Foundation and Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research Foundation. He is a founder of the Jackie Robinson Foundation and continues as an active board member.

Cheers Kramer. I probably meant 'employee' in the loosest sense :) (though I did believe him to be an executive director). Also had him down as hired by Garry Cook pre ADUG. Wrong again!
He's definitely Kim Wilde's dad though right....?
